BARN DOOR FASTENBR.
APPLICATION FILED MAY 29, 1909.
Patented Aug. 24, 1909.

WILLIAM F. JONES, 0F OWENSVILLE, INDIANA.
BARN-DOOR FASTENER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VlLLIA'M F. JoNEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at ()wensville, in the county of Gibson and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Barn- Door Fasteners, of which the following is a speciiication.
My invention relates to an improvement in barn door fasteners, and the object is to provide means for locking both ends of the door to prevent the door from swinging outward or from becoming displaced by the rollers being thrown off the track.
The invention consists of certain novel features oi construction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of the door; Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view; and Fig. 3
a detail showing the latch.
A represents a portion of a building upon which a track 1 is mounted. Mounted upon the track is a sliding door B, which is provided with the usual rollers held in brackets 2, which are connected to the door. A right angled keeper '-l is connected to the building, which is adapted to extend along the side of the door when the door is in closed position, and a latch which is pivotally mounted on the inside of the door is adapted to engage the keeper for holding the door in locked position. A guard 6 is placed on the door to limit the upward and outward movement of the latch. Connected to the door on the inside and at the rear end is an eye bolt or screw 7, which is adapted to be engaged by a right angled hook, which is connected to the side of the building, one end of the hook passing through the eyebolt will Specification of Letters Patent.

prevent any upward movement of the door, whereby the rollers might be thrown from the track. The hook does not engage the door when it is moved rearwartilly Tor 1 ing the doorway. The door can be opened either from the inside or the outside by disconnecting the latch irom the keeper and forcing the door out of engagement with the keeper and the hook. Then the door is in closed position both the keeperand the hook will engage it and prevent it from being thrown from the track or swung outwardly so that it is always held in proper position when closed.
it is evident that more or less slight changes might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein set forth; but:
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
The combination with a building having a doorway formed therein, of a track on the building, a sliding door mounted on the track, a keeper on the building extending across one end and along the side of the door to prevent the door from swinging outward and latch on the door adapted to engage the keeper for locking the door, an eyebolt on the door and a hook on the building adapted to engage the eyebolt to prevent the 'door from swlnging or moving upward.
In testimony whereof I atlix my si nature, in the presence of two witnesses.
