To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J OSEPH C. MICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jersey Shore, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania,- have invented certain new and useful Improvements inWire Hangers for Magazines, Books, 850.; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of my inventionis the provision of simple means, which shall be durable and cheap in first cost, for holding or supporting newspapers, magazines, books, and analogous articles having a plurality of leaves or folds in such a manner that part of the area or surface of each magazine or other article, preferably that part bearing the heading or title, shall be exposed or displayed to view, as is desirable especially at news stands and in stationery and other stores.

My invention consists in a piece of wire of suitable size and length having at oneend hook, the opposite end being bent upon itself through an arc of 135 degrees, more or less, and the end of said bent portion provided with a hook or eye. 7 i

It further consists in a plurality of said individual elements united, detachably or otherwise, to form a compound holding devlce.

The accompanying drawing illustrates the embodiment of the invention in the preferred mode. I

Figure 1 illustrates the compound form of the device as it appears when supporting four magazines. Fig. 2 shows the single form of the device supporting a newspaper. 'Fig. 3 is a view in perspective of a single unitary holder.

Referring to the several figures, A designates the main portion of the device consisting of a straight piece of wireof-a suitable diameter and length; B, a hook at one end formed by bending the free end of the wire upon itself; 0, an integral loop or eye at the extreme end of the hook presenting a smooth surface so as not to tear or abrade the article supported; D, an arm formed by bending the opposite free end of the wire from a straight position through an arc of about 135 degrees more or less, so it will be oblique to the main body ortion A of the device; and E is an integral 00k or eye formed at the extreme end of the arm.

A plurality of magazines or papers are supported as shown in Fig. 1, the bent portion at F of each succeeding device being passed over the point of the hook E at the end of the arm. D above. However, the several unitary holders may be united ermanently and the articles slipped into tieir several relative positions on the holders.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawing it is clear that I have provided a very cheap and simple means for supporting and displaying magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, and the like.

In the compound form of the device one magazine or paper can be removed and replaced Without disturbing the others, the original shape of each is preserved, as there is no substantial sagging or bending of the leaves, the wind cannot separate the leaves, and a large superficial area of each magazine or paper is displayed, or presented to view.

What I claim is:

1. A supporting device for the purpose set forth, consisting of a main body portion of ire with a hook at one end and an arm at the other end, the end of the arm being provided with a hook, said arm bein disposed in a line oblique to the main bod y portion and lying outside the plane of the main body portion and the hook at the lower end of the device.
