J.P.BUB.GBR. ANTISEPTIG MOUTH PROTECTOR POR CIGARS. APPLICATION FILED NOV.16, 1906.
l 7i Ejgryen anun,
JOHN FREDERICKBURGER, or. BALrnioRE, MARYLAND.
ANTISEPTIG MOUTH-PROTECTOR FOR CIGARS.
Specication of Letters Patent.
patented June s, 1909.
Application -led November 16, 1906. Serial No. 343,738.
To all whom it may concern; 4
. Be it known that I, JOHN FREDERICK BURGER, a citizenof the United States, residing at Baltimore, inthe State of-Maryland, have invented a new and useful Improvement inAntise tic 'Mouth-Protectors for Cigars, of which t e following isaspeciiication. v This invention is a new and useful construction. of mouth piece for cigars, the object being to provide a clean, neat and sani- -tary mouth piece which can be quickly and .easily attached to the butt end of the cigar and another object is to provide a mouth piece of such cheap construction that if desired, it
can be used as an advertising medium to be given away with each purchase of cigars.
- mouth piece, the metal tube being shown in.
With these o b'ects in view the invention conslsts essentla y 'in providing a funnel ,shaped mouth piece made of thin cork or sinnlar material which is connected toa ri id tapering plug, said plug having a metalic tu e connected therewith and projecting centrally throu h the funnel shaped cork mouth piece and a so beyond the same, the inner end of said metal tube being pointed so that it can be readily inserted into the cigar, and this tube is also provided with one or more perforations,l to insure an easy draft.
The-invention consists also in certain deoutin the claim.
In the drawings 4forming a part of this speciiica'tionz-Figure 1 isa view showing a cigar' provided with my sanitary mouth piece. Fig; 2 is a'detailperspective view of the said mouth iece detached. Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the 'elevation. Fi 4 is a transversei's'ection on theline4--4o Fig.3. V
`In constructing a sanitary'mouth piece in accordance with my invention, I provide a funnel'shaped portion A, which is preferably made of thincork or similar material and is -attached to a tapered plug B, said plug being preferably made of Wood or some other material sufficiently hard to provide the necessary strength and rigidity at the extreme end of the mouth piece and connected to this plug and'passin centrally therethroughis a metal tube C, t e` outer end of said metal tube being flush with the outer end of the tails hereinafter fully described and ,pointedy plug while the tube itself passes 'centrally Lthrough the funnel shaped mouth piece-and terminates in a point C and adjacent the pointed end one or more perforations C2 are produced so that the smoke can be drawn freely through the tube.
In 4operation the tube is inserted longitudinally in the butt end of the cigar and the funnel shaped mouth piece envelo s the said ment canbe printed upon eitherthe exterior -or interior of the funnel shaped holder before the material is attached to the wooden plug.
A holderconstructed as herein shown and describedand being very inexpensive can be given awaywith each purchase of cigars if so desired and in that event the advertising feature of the holder would make it all the more useful, as anarticle of manufacture.
` Having thus fully described my invention, what I vclaim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentis:-
As a new article of manufacture, an antiseptic mouthprotector for cigars comprising a thin funnel-shaped member formed of cork adapted to receive the butt end of a cigar, a tapering wooden plug provided with a longitudinal bore secured in the contracted end of said funnel-shaped member forming a rigid endv portion for thesame which is inserted in the mouth, the outer end of the plug being flush with the end of the funnel-shaped member, said plug holding said funnelshaped member 1n shape and a tube extending transversely through the bore of said tapering plug and centrally through the funnel-shaped member, said tube being provided with'a pointed end extending out beforations andthe other end of said tube being Hush with the outer end of said lug.
