Letta-s Patent No. 92,375, dated July 6, 1869.
IMPROVED SPRING-#BED BOTTOM.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part cf the same.
To all who-m lt may concern Be it known that I, D. A. SCOTT, of Cincinnati, in
the county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have iuvented a new and nsciul Improvement in Spring-Bed Bottoms, of which the following is a full and clear description,\reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in unitingr the slats or disks of spring-beds by means of a twisted-'wire cord, whereby, while they are allowed to yield, they are more perfectly held in place than when united by cords, webbing, and similar means, such as have heretofore been used.
-in a cord, of suitable dimensions, may be used to connect together the slats or disks ofthe bed-bottom.
The advantages oia cord made of annealed wire or copper, with loosely-twisted strands, over the hempeu or cotton cord, usually employed to connect together the slats or disks, when suppolted upon springs, is its greater durability andl strength.v At the same time it possesses nearly the ilexibility of the hempen cord, and is not subject to the objection of rigidity to which the continuons rod is, when used in the place of the cord I do not confine myself to annealed or copper wire in the construction oi my improved cord, but use any metallicwirebest adapted for the purpose herein mentioned.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let-A ters Patent, is- Y The combination of the slats or disks A, and the twisted-wire cord B, when arranged as herein shown and described.
Witnesses C, L. FISHER, SAM. E. CRAWFORD.
D. A. sco'T'r.
