UNITED sTAtr s PATENT QFFIGE.
WILLIAM ALBERT SHAFER, OF MOAB, UTAH.
PHONOGRAPH-RECORD CASE.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, IVILLLUI ALBERT Snares, a citizen of the United States, residing at Moab, in the county of Grand and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Phonographtecord Cases, of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to improvements in phonograph record cases, and refers particularly to a case for what are known as cylinder records, and the object of my invention is the provision of a case which will be compact and comparatively small in size but which will have capacity for holding a large number of cylinder records.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a phonograph record case which will permit the ready insertion or withdrawal of any desired record, which will prevent the records from being damaged or injured and which can be produced at a price to render the device useful and desirable.
\Vith these objects in view my invention consists of a phonograph record case comprising arevolving cylinder provided with concentric record receiving compartments and means for revolving the cylinder to present the compartments and permit the restoration or removal of the record.
The invention further consists in a phonograph record case embodying novel features and construction and combination of parts substantially as disclosed herein/ Figure 1, represents a side elevation of a phonograph record case constructed in accordance with and accompanying my invention and, Fi 2, represents a vertical sectional view 0 the record case.
My record case consists of the case or housing A, of cylindrical form provided with a handle B, a support C, and an openrovided with a door E. Mounted within t e case upon the shaft F, is a cylinder G, which is provided with. a series of phonograph roll holding compartments H,

' which are preferably arranged in a pair or concentric series. The roll carrying cylinder may have the box for chambers J, placed in the cylinder in any desired manner.
Engaging the periphery or ream of the cylinder preferably at its lower portion is the drum K, mounted in the casing and connected to said drum is the crank L, for the purpose of turning the drum to cause the drum to revolve the roll holding cylinders to present the box or chambers in pairs to the opening of the case for the purpose of permitting the insertion or removal of the cylinders.
It will thus be seen that I provide a phonograph record case which will occupy a very small space and may be readily moved from place to place, but which will hold a large number of records and which will present any desired record instantly, and which will prevent breakage of the records, thus insuring a practical and useful device. of this character.
I claim:
1. A phonograph record case, consisting of an outer case provided with an opening. a cylinder mounted inside the case and adapted to carry the records, a drum mounted in the case and engaging the roll of the cylinder for revolving the cylinder to present the rolls at the openingof the case.
2. A record case consisting of a drum or casing, a cylindrical casing mounted inside of the drum or casing and provided with concentric compartments having roll holding openings, and opening in one side of the casing and means for revolving the record carrying cylinder to bring the rolls ad acent to the said opening in the casing to ermit insertion or withdrawal of the recor s.
In testimony whereof I afi'ix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM ALBERT SHAFER.
