CHESTER'ALMONDE BOWER, OF CASTOR, CANADA.
DISPLAY RACK FOR PHONOGRAPH DISKS.
Specification of Letters Zatent.
Patented July 1, 1922.
Application filed December 16, 1921. Serial No. 522,837.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that l, Cnnsrnn ALMONDE Bownn, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of Castor, in the Province of Alberta, Dominion of Canada, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Racks for honograph Disks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in display racks for phonograph disks or records, and has for its objects to provide a means for displaying the phonograph disks for sale in a store.
Further objects are to provide an improved display rack, which comprises a plurality of vertical rods positioned insemicircular arrangement, and having a plurality of racks proper pivotally mounted on the rods.
Further objects are to provide a rack, which consists of a tubular member pivotally mounted on a rod and having upwardly inclined grooved arms designed to loosely engage the phonograph disk or record.
Further objects are to provide an improved display rack that is simple in construction, not liable to go out of repair, and generally to adapt the several parts to better perform the functions required of them.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists essentially of the improved construction, hereinafter described in detail in the accompanying specification and drawings.
in the drawings;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved display rack.
Figure 2 is a. plan view of the same.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section through one of the improved phonograph disk supporting members.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the improved display rack, which comprises a plurality of vertical rods 10 mounted in two semi-circular plates 11 and 12, which serve to dispose the rods 10 in semi-circular arrangement.
Mounted on the rods 10 are a plurality of racks or frames 13, each comprising a tubular member lat housing a part of the vertical rod 10 and forming integral or otherwise two arms 15 and 16.
The arms 15 and 16 are slanted upwardly,
and are grooved or in order to provide engage the edges of frame 13.
The edges of the wall 17 or of the grooved sides of the arms 15 and 16 are flared outwardly so that the side of the phonograph disk or record may be more easily engaged by the walls of the two arms 15 and 16.
As a plurality of frames 13 may be placed on the same rod 10, spacing means are provided, which consist of a washer 19 which may be made of a desired thickness. The top semi-circular plate 11 may if desired be formed integral, or otherwise provided, with a tongue 20 slotted as at 21 in order to engage a suitable supporting means on a wall, so that the display rack A as a whole may be hung on the wall or other suitable place.
When this improved display rack is being used for display purposes for phonograph records, the records are placed in the frames 13, and the client ords placed in one row, that is, the records carried by the frames 13 hinged on the same vertical rod 10, turns them over to the right or left, as the case may be, exactly as a page of a book.
As many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claim, constructed without departing or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
JV hat I claim as my invention is:
A display rack for phonograph disks or records, comprising a plurality of rods, vertically disposed in semi-circular arrangement, a plurality of racks pivotally mounted on the rods, and each comprising a sleeve mounted on the rods, grooved arms carried by each sleeve, and slanting upwardly, the outer ends of the grooved arms being diverged outwardly, and spacing means between the sleeves.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
CHESTER ALMONDE BOWVER.
