WILLIAM D. ALEXANDER, OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO CHARLES L. ELYEA, OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA.
ADJUSTABLE RACK FOR HOLDING GRAMOPHONE-RECORDS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 20, 1907.
Application filed October 8, 1906. Serial No. 337.973.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILpIAM D. ALEXANDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Racks for Holding Gramophone-Records; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to'improvements in adjustable racks forholding gramophone records, and the object ofmy invention is to provide a simple rack of this kind, in which the holding means may be adjusted and which is adapted to hold any size of disk and as many disks as desired.
With these objects my invention consists in the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying views, Figure l is a perspective view of my complete device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal cross section of one of the members thereof. Fig. 3 is a cross section at right angles to the section of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is an enlarged view, showing the holding rods or wires.
The rack is built of similar sections, each section consisting of a bottom a, side I), top 0, and side or end d, the member, being open front and back. Retaining strips 0 and f run across the rack at the top andbottom. Each of the members is slotted [or the reception of retaining wires 9 shown on an enlarged scale in Fig. 4'. The bottom of each member oi the rack is provided with a socket h to receive said wires and the top is provided with a socket i. The socket i is of such a depth that one of the wires or rods 9 can be inserted therein, first upward and then dropped down into the socket h, being then firmly held in position. 'The rack is built up of a number of these sections, as shown in Fig. 1, and an ornamental top piece It may be used, if desired.
As shown in Fig. 3, the sockets in the different sec tions for the reception of the wires inay be made at different distances apart, so as'to accommodate record mlisks of various sizes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
1. An adjustable rack for holding grainophone records,
comprising a number of similar parts or members superpcsed upon each other, each member being open, at the front and back and provided with sockets, and wires 1'emovably inserted in said sockets, substantially as described.
:3. In an adjustable rack for holding gram'ophone records. a single member comprising a casing open front and back and provided witlra number of sockets, wires remov= ably inserted in said sockets, and retaining strips at the top and bottom, substantially as described.
3. An adjustable rack for holding gramophone records, comprising a number of members built up into a structure and provided with an ornamental top, each member having a top, boilom, and ends. but open at the front and the back, the top and bottom of each member being provided with sockets, wires held in said sockets, and retaining strips at the top and bottom of each member running across the open back and front, the sockets and wires being so proportioned that the wires may be removed from and inserted into said sockets as desired, substantially as described. i
In testimony whereof, I afiix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
' v WILLIAM I). ALEXANDER.
