HOLDER FOR SOUND-REPRODUCING RECORDS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 2'7, 1911.
Patented Nov. 21, 1911.
Serial No. 623,692.
To all whom 7/6 may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY D. ILLIoK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Galesburg, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Sound-Reproducing Records, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
ords of sound reproducing instruments and the principal object of the same is toprovide a case that can be placed in a cabinet or other receptacle and which is so constructed that a large number of records can be safely stored in a small space, and in which the records are so arranged that they can be used in a regular predetermined order.
A preferred and practical embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing wherein Figure l is a view in front elevation of the improved record holder. Fig. 2 is a trans verse vertical sectional view taken on the line 22, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view taken on the line 33, Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view showing the manner of attaching the guards to the shelves of the holder. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of one of the guards. Fig. 6 is a fragmentary perspective view of one of the shelves.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals it will be seen that the improved holder comprises a body 7 that is vertically disposed and is semicircular in shape. A plate 8 conforms to the contour of body 7 and is fitted in the upper end thereof and a similar plate 9 is fitted within the bottom of said body. The bottom plate 9 has its upper surface provided with a plurality of regularly spaced parallel semicircular grooves 10, and the top plate has its under surface similarly grooved. semicircular shelves 11 are arranged in regularly spaced parallel relation within the body 7 and have their upper and lower surfaces provided with regularly spaced parallel semicircular slots 12. The arrangement of shelves divides the holder into separate horizontal compartments, and each compartment is divided into a plurality of independent vertical compartments by means of the semicircular part-itions 13 which are arranged in spaced parallel surrounding relation and have their This invention relates to holders for recupper and lower ends fitted in the grooves of the shelves and the top and bottom plates and extend through the grooves 12 of the shelves 11. The vertical compartments formed by the partitions 13 have their open ends at the front of the body 7 so that access can be had to said compartments at each side of the body 7. Said compartments being in surrounding relation, it will be clear that they vary in size, the outermost one being the largest and the central one the smallest.
The shelves 11 and the top and bottom plates 8 and 9 are rigidly but removably held in the body 7 by the rods 18 that pass through said body and enter the shelves and plates.
The improved holder is especially adapted for use in holding the record in regular order and it will be seen that when in use the records may be taken from one end of a. record compartment and returned'to the compartment through the opposite end so that an unused record is always at one end and a used record at the other end.
The guards 14 are used at the ends of the recordcompartments from which the records are removed so that when records are being placed in the compartments from the other ends, they will not fall from the compart ments. The removable pegs 17 are used when the compartments are filled with records.
What I claim as my invention is 1. A holder for sound reproducing records comprising a semicircular body, top and bottom plates therefor, shelves in said body and forming a plurality of compartments, semicircular partitions in each compartment and arranged in spaced parallel relation to provide independent record compartments, guards extending across one of the ends of said record compartments and provided with concaved seats for records, said guards being provided with penetrating I said record compartments, and removable abutments for the other ends of said record compartments.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
HARRY D. ILLIGK.
