XAVIER CUKIER, OF NEW YORK, N ..Y.
DISK-RECORD HOLDER.
No. saasee.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented. Nov. 20, 1 e0 6.
Application filed July 11,1906. Serial No. 325,596.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
.Be it known that I, XAVIER CUKIER, a citizen of the Urited States, and a resident of I ords together in a body and in such a way that any record may be readily selected and removed from the holder. 1
The invention consists in the construction 4 and combination of parts to be more fully de scribed hereinafter and particularly set forth in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a horizontal section through the upper portion of the case of the device. Fig. 2 is-a vertical section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on the line 2 3 of Fig. 1. 1
Referring more articularly to the arts, 1 represents a case aving the form 0 a box, with a door 2 hinged thereto at the edge 3, so as to swing outwardly in a well-known manner. On the inner sides! of the cover 4 and bottom 5 of this case or box I provide grooves 6, which are disposed opposite to each other, as shown. In each of these grooves an elongated slidable block 7 is arranged. These blocks, respectively, receive the ends of a vertically-disposed pin or spindle 8. Upon this spindle I arrange a plurality of rotatable cross-heads 9, which crossheads present oppositely-projecting arms 10, which arms are formed at their extremities with upwardlyprojecting thimbles 11, the purpose of which will be described more fully hereinafter. Between these arms loose washers 12 are'arranged which maintain the cross -heads a short distance-apart. Each cross-head is 13, and is formed with diverging forks 14. The outer faces 15 of these forks constitute faceeplates, which are adapted to receive strips of paper having the titles of the selections written thereupon.
The thimbles 11 referred to above afford means for holding the disks or disk-records 16 in position. As indicated in Fig. 3 each of these disks is provided with the-usual central opening 17 and this opening is received over the thimble 11. The thickness of the washers 12 is slightly greater than the thickness of the phonograph-disks 16, so that when the holder is full of disks these disks will be maintained apart, as indicated in Fig. 2.
When it is desired to remove any required record, the door 2 of the case will be opened and one of the handles 13 will be seized. The blocks 7 may then be slid outwardly, carrying with them the entire body of disks mounted upon the cross-heads. All of the faceplates 15, bearing the titles of the difierent records, will then be brought into plain view and the desired piece may be selected. In order to remove the required disk from the body of the records, the handle 13 which bears the title thereof will be rotated to one side, as indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 3
1. In this way the desired record will be ulled out from the body of the disks and will be projected forwardly in the manner shown by the dotted lines. It will then project beyond the front of the case and may be readily removed by the fingers off of the thimble 11. Having thus described my invention, I
" claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a device of the class described, incombination, a case, a plurality of crossheads mounted therein ada ted to carry the records and having means or indicating the titles thereof, means whereby the said crossheads may be advanced bodily within said case, and means for rotatably supporting said cross-heads whereby the individual records may be withdrawn.
2. In a device of the class described, in
' adapted to indicate the titles 0 plurality of cross-heads rotatably mounted In testimony whereof I have signed my on said spindle, Washers disposed between name to this specification in the presence of IO said cross-(ileads alnd (inaikilltaining the sarlne .two subscribing Witnesses. apart, sai crossea s avin o osite T projecting arms adapted to reiei record s MVIER OUKIER' and having forwardlyprojectin handles Witnesses:
