JOHN W. WELLS, OF EVERETT, MASSACHUSETTS.
DRILL-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 6, 1910.
Application filed October 27, 1909. Serial No. 524,973.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN WV. ELLS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Everett, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drill- Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in holders for drills or similar articles of that kind having a separate compartment or cell for each of the several tools to be placed therein, and the objects of my invention are to provide a more convenient stand or holder for drills or similar articles, to enable a compact structure to be formed which will accommodate the greatest number of drills or articles in the least amount of space, whereby the handling of the drills &c. is rendered more easy and convenient. I obtain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is the top plan of my improved holder closed. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a top plan with arms partially open. Fig. l is the cover or case that encompasses the drills &C. to protect them when not in use.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A is the bottom plate.
B is a stationary piece fastened to plate A.
C and D are arms provided with graduated perforations E, E, which serve as receptacles for drills or similar tools, said arms swing open to give easy access to the drills, also to see the size marks F, which are on the side of the arms.
G is the tongue held in B by a pin H.
I are the pivots upon which the arms 0 and D swing.
The cover Fig. 4;, as shown in the drawing, is made to slip over the drills and arms resting on plate A, but it could be made to open by means of hinges in various ways.
I claim An improved drill holder, comprising a plate, upon which are mounted two or more arms hinged together at one end, each arm having a series of perforations, and having numbers indicating the size of said perforations, and a cover or case to encompass said holder, substantially as described herein.
JOHN WV. WELLS.
Vitnesses WVILLIAM H. WALSH, SAMUEL H. DILLINGHAM.
