CARTRIDGE-BELT.
SpecificationV of `Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 6, 1908.
Application led March 15,l 1.907.V SerialNo. 362,536.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. FISHER, of Middletown, `in lthe county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cartridge-Beltsg; and' I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilledin the art to which it appertains tomake and use the same.V V
My invention relates to improvements in` cartridge belts and more particularly tothe construction of the pocket `portions there-k of,-the object of the invention being Vto provide-simple, cheap and efficient means wherej With this object in view, the invention` consists in` certain` novel features of lconstruction and combinations and arrangements of parts as hereinafter set forth and pointed out inthe claims.`
In the accompanying drawings; Figure l is a view of a portion of a cartridge belt embodying my improvements: Fig.' 2 is a sectional view of the same(` j 7 l representsthe body of the vbeltwhichis made of multiply-woven fabric.v At intervals along the body Vof thefbelt, loops are Woven at their side edges integral vwith the body of the belt and closed at their bottoms by weaving or in any other suitable manner, to form pockets 2. Acover or flap 3 is provided for each pocket.` j Each cover or flap` is made of vwoven fabric, andtheupper portion thereof is made somewhat wider than the widthof the pocket, so that `when said cover is folded over the pocket and secured to the front thereof by means of a suitable fastener 4, it will project slightly overthe ends of the pocket` and protect the end car vhold them snugly within the pocket. The
lower narrower` portion 5 of each cover 3 lies against the inner face of the vback of a pocket and is secured to thebelt by means down the full depth of the pocket, and at the bottom of the latter, it is up-turned and its end issecured to the front wall of the pocket a short distance above the bottom of the same,V as shown at 7 That portion of the cover which depends into the pocket, thus `forms a reinforcement for the back `or inner wall of the pocket and its lower end constitutes a re-inforcement for the bottom of the pocket anda portion of the front wall Vof fthe latter. The lower portion of the pocket is thus so reinforced where the pointed ends of the cartridges rest, as to effectually withstand `the wear and strain brought to bear at the bottom of the pocket by said pointed, ends of the cartridges.
Slight changes might be made in the details of .construction of myinvention without departing from the spirit thereof or limiting its scope and I do not therefore wish to limit myself to the precise details herein set forth except as` required by the scope of the appended claims.
its intermediate portion disposed against the Y back wall of the pocket and directly secured tothe latter near the upper edge thereof, the
-lower portion of said separate member eX- tending over and covering the bottom of the ypocket and having its upper edge secured to "the-front wall of the pocket and terminating vbelow the upper 'edge thereof, and the upper portion of said `separate member projecting ffromthe top of the pocket a sufficient distance to constitute acover for the latter.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
j WILLIAM C. FISHER.
