r '7 v y I To all whom 'it may concern.
in the county .of Dallas and State of Iowa tonne-Minn, or ADEL, Iowa.
a Be it known that I, Joint S. MARK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Adel have invented a newand useful Band, Band Fastener, and. SealCombined, of'which the following is a specification,
Theobject oft-his invention is to combine a band, a band fastener and sealin such a manner that the band can-,beplaced around an object and stretched tightlyand locked and sealed advantageously'without any ex- 'traneous device.
' v My invention consists in the construction,
arrangement and combination of a band and band-fastener and. seal holder for the application of a seal as hereinafter set forth,
pointed out in my claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the de-. vice that shows the construction of the different parts thereof and their positions relative to each other. Fig. 2 1s a perspective -view andshows my invention applied and sealed as required in practical use. The numeral 10 designates a flat metal plate that may vary in s1ze as desired.
At one end the corners of the plate 10 are nbe nt inward and then upward to produce parallel bearers12 for pivotally connecting a lever 13 therewith.v The lever isprovided with a lurality of notches win its edge: for
' adjusta ly and detachably connectinga link 14 therewith as shown in Fig. 1, and the free end of the lever has a perforation b for the passage of one end of a seal wire. The other end of the plate 10 has integral parallel upi hts; 15, provided with erforations 0 to Emit the end of a seal, as shown in Fig. 2, when'the band is fastened and the perforation 6. is in alinement with the perforations 1S extended through an opening 17 between c on the uprights 15. One end of a band 16 the upri hts 15 on the plate 10 and then doubled aok and its over ying parts riveted p by Letters-Patent; is:

together or otherwise fastened to the plate 10. The, free end of the band is then adj' ustably and detachably. connected with the link la'by means of a loop 17, a buckle or in any suitable wayas required for connecting the band'16 with the lever 13 by means of the link 14, as shown in Fig. 1.
A seal 18 fixed on the end of a wire 19 is applied by extending the wire through-the apertures a and b and then extending it through the seal and compressing the seal in a common Way by means of a suitable pincers.
Having. thus set forth the purposes ofniy invention and the manner of itsapplication and use the practical operation and ad vantages thereof willbe obvious.
What I claim as new-and desire to 1. In a band and fastener and seal combined a straight flat plate having parallel uprights at one end provided with perforations, a lever ivoted to the'otherend of said flat plate to old between said uprights and provided Witha plurality of notches in one of its edges and a perforation in its free end toicoincide with the perforations in the uprights. 2. A band, a band fastener and seal adapted for securely closing a box or the like, comprising an elongated straight flat plate adapted to rest flaton a box and provided With uprights having perforations, a lever JOHN S.
