" UNITED STATES PATENT 1 NICHOLAS R. SHULTS, OF LAKE CITY, MICHIGAN.
sncunnvc APPLIANCE FonjLINoLEUM, &c..
To all whom it may concern; 4
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS R. SHU'LTS, a citizen of the United] States, residing at Lake City, in the county of Missaukeeand State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Securing Appliances for Linoleum, &c.; and I do hereby declare. the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. d v I My invention relates to a securing device for linoleum, etc. i
My object is to produce a device that will securely hold'the linoleum to the floor and yet allow it to creep or move as it expands or contracts, thus preventing it from buc: kling or tearing.
The drawings this application in which- Figure 1' is a perspective view of my securing device showing the top surface thereof. Fig. 2 is a crosssection showing the securing device in place between two pieces oflinoleum. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a securing device in place. Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the under surface thereof.
In the detailed description of my invention reference is had to the inclosed drawings,-and numerals are used to indicate the various parts, the same numeral being used to indicate the same part throughout. 1
My invention consistsof a strip of metal 1 folded on itself toform'a rib 2 longitudinally along its center and extending at right angles to the plane thereof. A plurality of anchoring triangular points 3 are struck up from the surface of the strip and rib, alternately on either side of the rib and are located upon the edge thereof, extending in the same direction as the rib and forming an extension thereof. All parts of the fastener are formed integrally from one piece of metal. I
Copies of thin patent may be obtained for herewith are made part ofsaid rib, whereby Specification of LettersPatent. Patented ()ct "2(), 1914. Application filed June 17, 1914. Serial No. 845,701. a i I i I In operation the securing device is placed on top of two abutting pieces of linoleum withthe rib and points extending down- 'fwardly in the j ointf The device is then se cured in place [driving the points into the floor,Ithe body: portion ofthe strip overlapping the linoleum on either side of the joint and the edge of the rib resting on the floor,
thus securing the meeting edges and holding thelinoleumin place. i
. I have providedan efficient and cheap device forthepurpose set forth and believing that the construction, advantages and manner of using my invention have'thus' been made clearly apparent, further description is deemed unnecessary; A 7 What I desire to secure by-Letters Patent is: I y 1. A securmg device'consistmg of a strip to fit between the ab utted edges of the of metal, having a longitudinal Irib adapted linoleuinorlike floor coveringandhaving a plurality of anchoring points carried by the rib and adapted to be driven'into the floor. a
' 2. A securing device consisting -of=a strip of metal; a rib formed of folds of said strip of metal and a plurality of pointsstruck up from the rib and the adj acen'tibody' portion of the strip, and located on the edge' of the the securing device is fas} 8. A securing device having apo'r-Y tion folded to form integrally acentral rib,
and sharp points struckup fronifthesaidbody forming anextension thereof,
portion and adjacent part .of the rib Intestimony whereof Ihave signed my 1 name tothis specification in the'presence of two subscribing witnesses.
