SUPPORT FOR LAVAIOBIEB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 29, 1908.
I Application filed May 9, 1906. Serial No. 315,908.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that we, ALFRED Coons and GEORGE CO0Ns, citizens of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supports for Lavatories, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to im 'irovements in lavatm'y supports, and" one of its objects is the provision of a device of this character which is adapted to be roadil and quickly applied to the pipes of the lavatory.
A further object of the invention is to provide a 'lavatorv ipporl; which is simple, durable and cili: and which can be manufactured and so (2. at a comparatively low cost.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in. the con: struction, combination and arrange of parts hereina'lter i'ull v (.l ?S(;l! l, r 9d and illustrated in thepvcouipanving drove in wherein:
igure 1 is a perspective view iiluslra i' theapplication of our impro ed la support. Fig. 2 a front vim:
illustrating the manner in which itis adup l to be secured to the vent or supply gr pes or the lavatory. Fig. 3 is a view in side lo tionthereof, and Fig. 4 is a top plan"? thereof, ortions of the supporting arms being bro an away.
Referring tothc drawing by reiereuc-e llfll slab, B the bowl, and C thevertical slab of a lavatory, the bowl' being secured to the horizontal slab.
Our im roved lavatory support consists of a 111cm )01' 5 which is adapted to be socured to the vent pipe ll. and the supply pipes 10 of the lavatory by means of ,a clampmg strip 6 andbolts 7, said member and strip being rovidcd with scinicicular deressions 9 i iir the reception of the pipes.
he member 5 is provided with forwardly projecting and horizontally disposed supporting arms 18, upon which the horizontal Attaching arms slab A is ada ted to rest, 12 are secure to the member 5 by means of bolts 8 and rise vertically therefrom at right angles with relation to the supporting arms 18. The attaching arms 12 are adapted to be positioned in rear of the horizontal portions 14 of the vent pipe 11, and to permit this they are ofl'set, as at 13, see Fig. 3 of the drawing. The vertical slab C .of the lavatory is adapted to-be secured to the attaching arms 12 by means ofbolts 16 and nuts 17, the bolts passing through the slab and through elongated openings 15 in. the attaching arms. The a plication of the member 5 to the pipes o the lavatory pro: vides a strong and rigid support for the horizontal slab A and bowl B. The location of the attaching arms 12 in rear of the horizontal portions of the vent pipe also strengthens and adds rigidity to the support. As the vertical slab C of the lavatory 15 secured to the attaching arms 12, all. liability of the same becoming accidentally displaced is obviated. As the openings 15 are elon ated, the bolts 16 may be passed through the vertical slab C at di'll'erent points, and as each arm is secured. to the member 5 b\ means of a similar bolt, the vertical slab may be readily adjusted with proper relation to the horizontal slab A.
As shown in Fig. 25 of the dra ring, the
i attaching arms 12 may be secured to the clamping strip 6.
Changes in the form, proportions and minor details of construction may be made 'ivithin. the scope of the claims without departing from thes irit or sacrificing any of the advantages 0' the invention.
Having fully described and illustrated our invention, what we claim is:
1. In a lavatory support, the combination with the horizontal and vertical slabsand a p1 pe oi a lavatory, ot a member adapted to be secured to the pipe and provided with an arm'i'uiapted to support the horlzontal slab, another arm secured to said member, and
means adapted to secure the vertical slab to said other arm.
2. in a. lavatory support, the combination with the horizontal and vertical slabs and a pipe of a lavatory, of a member adapted to )e secured to the pipe and provided with an arm adapted to support the horizontal slab, another arm secured to said member and provided with a slot, and means assing throu h the slot and the vertical slab to secure't e slab to the arm.
3; In a lavatory support, the combination with a slab and a pipe of a lavatory, ofa member provided with an arm ada ted-to support t e slab, a clamping strip, an means engaging the member and. clamping strip, said clampingstrip and means being adapted to secure the memberto the,
4. Ina Iauatcry support, the combination with the horizontal and vertical slabs and a pipe of a lavatory, of a member provided with an arm adapted to support the ho'rifirst named means.
zontal slab, a clamping stri means engagin the clamping'strip, said 0' ampin strip an means being adapted to secure t e member to the pipe, another arm secured to said member, and means adapted to secure the vertical slab to said other arm.
5. In a lavatory support, the combination with the horizontal and vertical slabs and a pipe of a lavator means secured to the pipe to support the orizontal slab, and means adapted to-secure thevertical slab to said i In testimony whereof, we afiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
