TABLE.
T o all trimm 'it muy concern:
Be it known that I,- Joiix A. Trsirmxn, a subject of tlie' Kiiig of Sweden. residing at- English Creek, county of Atlantic. and Statel of ew Jersey, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Tables, of which the following is a s iecification.
)I v invention relates toa new and useful improvement in tables, and has for its` object to provide an exceedingly simple and etl'cctive arrangement by which the center of a table used for dining purposes and the like may be revolved so as to bring the various dishes placed thereon in reach of persons sitting around the table, a suflicient surface being left stationary to support the plates and other articles which are. exclusively used by the individual.
'ith these ends in view, this invention consists in the details of constmction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claims. v
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appcrtains nay understand how to make and use the saine. I will describe its construction in detail. referring b v letter to the accompanying drawing forniing a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of a. table made in accordance with my improvement. the center or revolving portion being rt- `oved so as to clearly show the devices for supporting said revolving portion. I"ig.`2. a section at the line X-X of Fig. l. the center or revolving portion being in position.
In carrying out my invention here embodied. A represents the stationary iop of the table supported by the legs B from which project the brackets or braces C. the latter being secured to the central leg D so as to hold the same in its proper position The central leg D is heller.' and h s threaded in the lower portion thereof the ivot plug E abutting against a shoulder formed in the bore of the leg D andprovided uith the *wrench hold F b v which it may lz-e adjusted and the caster socket F', the upper end of this plugr being recessed so as to receive'- the lower end of the revolving shaft G upon which the revolving center H of the table is s. pported. In order that this revolving centr-r may be further supported and yet permitted to turn i I locate a number of rollers I tipo@ the inner edge of the cut out portion of the top A and provide an. annular irackJ upon the ot her side Patented Angell, 1908.

of the revolving center adapted to travel uponsaid rollers. To reduce the amount of friction upon the revolving shaft G I provide a series of rolls K which are disposed horizontally and surround and bear against the shaft so as to permit it to freely revolve and maintain it in its upright position. By this arrangement tlie revolving center will be caused to run true regardless of the disposition of the weight thereon.
The bore of the leg D is of enlarged dialneter at its lowerend so that a space is afforded in the lower end of said leg to permit of the insertion of a tool for manipulating the plug E.
. In practice the individual service, such as plates. knives, torlsv cups and the like are placed upon the stationary top A while the dishes containing the food to be used by the individual sittingr at the table are placed upon the revolving center thus permittingr any of said dishes to be brought to any of the persons b v simply turningr the revolving center, thus overcoming the necessity of having an attendant. or waiter to pass` these dishes.
My invention is especially adapted for use in restaurants and banquet rooms, but, of course. may be used for any purpose desired.
Having thus` fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, is
l. In :i table of the type set forth, an outer annular section, supporting legs therefor, a centitil hollow leg having a shouldered boie, the lower portion of said bore being threaded rigid braces connecting each of said supporting legs with said cent ral leg, a plug removably disposed in the threaded portion of said bore and bearing against said shoulder, a shaft disposed iii the upper portion of said. bore and having a pointed lower end resting upon the upper end of said plug, and a revolving center ioi'tion sup iorted upon thel upper end of said shaft and within the contines of said annular section, said bore being of enlarged diameter at its lower end, said plug having its lower end portion formed as a wrench hold and provided with a caster recess.
2. In a table of the type set forth an outer annular section. supporting legs therefor, a
central hollow ieg rigid braces connecting.
each of said supporting legs with said centra leg. a plug removabljidisposed ni said central leg, a siiafthaving a pointed lower end resting on said plug and having its` upper end projecting beyondsa id central leg, a revolving said shaft and spaxcedvfroxn the upper end of' having Contact with said last nnlnedrollers.
center portion supported on the lupper end of l the under face of suill central portion and said central leg, horizontall) (lis )osed rollers In testimony whereof, I have hereunto supported upon the upper endo said cent-ral I :u'lxed my .signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JoI'IN A. 'IYSKLIND 5 leg und Contactin wit 1 said slmft, said rollels being arrangel in the space between said centreL leg and said central portion, rollers Y supported in annular series by said annular ll'vitllesses: section and projecting into the cent-ral open- WILLIAM T. LEER,
10 ing thereof mul :In annular track secured to WILLIAM R. SoUDER.
