IMPROVEMENT m STANDARDS FOR STOOLS, TABLES, &c.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,836, dated October 21, 1873; application filed June 28, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL HARMON NEW- OOMB, of Port Williams, in the county of Kings, Nova Scotia, have invented new and Improved Supporting-Standards for Stools or Tables, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 rep-- resents a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the supporting-stand on line 0 c, Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a top view of the hinged legs as arranged around the central shaft of the supporting-stand; and Fig. 4, a side view of the supporting-stand with legs folded up.

The invention consists in an improved stand adapted to support different articles of furniture, as hereinafter fully described.
In the drawing, A represents the supporting-stand, which consists of four curved legs,
a, of which one is firmly connected to the central shaft 1), The other legs a are hinged sidewise to each other at at, so as to fold nearly parallel to the stationary leg. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let- .The hinged legs a, the center shaft b, and the support B, constructed and combined, as shown and described, to form a stand for a piano-stool, center-table, work-stand, clothesrack, or analogous article.
