IMPROVEMENT IN lRQNlNG-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. B 57,254, dated February 13, 1877; application filed November 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, Rev. EDWARD H. (JAY.- LOR, of West Elkton, in the county of Preble and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ironing-Table, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved ironing-table, and showing, in dotted lines, the sleeve-board in place upon it. Fig. 2 is a view of the under side of the forward part of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail side view of the sleeve-board. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the shirt-board.

The object of .this invention is to furnish an improved ironing-table, which shall he so constructed that it may be attached to a table or other convenient support, may be supported at any desired height, may have a shirt-hoard and a sleeve-hoard attached to it, and shall be provided with a clothes-rack and a stand for the sad-irons.
A represents the ironing-tahle, to the under side of which, near its forward end, is attached a cross-bar, a. To the cross-bar, near its ends, are connected two blocks or short bars. B, by pins N. The forward parts of the blocks B are connected with the forward part of the table A by bolts b provided with hand-nuts, so that by turning up the said handnuts the forward end of the ironing-table A may be clamped to the edge of a table, a stand, a sewing-machine table, a chair-hoard, a window-ledge, or other convenient support. The rear end of the table A is supported by a leg, (J, the upper end of which is hinged to the said table A, so that it may he turned up against the under side of the table, when not required for use, for convenience in storage or transportation. The leg 0 is made in two parts, sliding upon each other, and connected together by a band, 0 and a pin, 0 Several holes are formed in the parts 01" the leg 0 to receive the pinc so that it may be adjusted in length to .eorrespond with the height of the object to which the forward end of the table A may be attached. To the upper; side of the forward end of the table A is attached a plate, D, which is provided with lugs al which project downward and outward, and are secured to the said table A, so as to raise the said plate I) a little above the table A. The forward part ot' the plate D is circular, and is designed to serve as a stand for sad-irons. The rear part of the plate D is made with a straight edge, has a pin, (1 attached to its center, and is designed to serve as a keeper to receive the slotted tenons formed upon the forward ends of the shirthoard E and the sleeve-hoard F. 'ihe forward ends of the shirt-board E and of the sleeve-hoard F are made thicker, and are beveled oft upon the lower side, so that the rear parts of the said boards may stand up a little from the table A, to allow shirts and sleeves to he placed upon them readily. The outer end of the shirt-board E is rounded 0d, and the outer end of the sleeve-board F is rounded off and beveled upon its upper side, shown in the drawings. G represents a number of arms, which are pivoted at their inner ends to the under side of the table A, near its forward end, so that they may he swung out to receive the clothes to he aired, and swung in beneath the said table when not required for use. The pivoted arms G are supported in a horizontal position by a semicircular rod or keeper, H, attached to the table A in such a way as to leave space for the arms Gr between it and the said table A.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- I. An ironing-board, provided with clamping device 13 b sad-iron device I) d (1 shirt-hoard E, and sleeve-board F, all construeted and arranged as shown and described.
2. The combination of the pivoted arms G and the semicircular keeper H, with the table A, substantially as herein shown and described.
ED WARD H. oAYLoa.
