UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE BENJAMIN F. sTEIoKLER, oF FEOEIA, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN IRONING-BOARDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,777, dated July 7, 1874; application led April 13, 1874.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that l', BENJAMIN F. S'rRIoK- LER, of the city of Peoria, in the county of Peoria and in the State of Illinois, have invented an Improvement in Ironing-Boards 5 and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, rei'- erence being had to the annexed drawings making a part ot' this specification, in which like letters of reference .refer to like parts, and in which- Figure l represents a longitudinal elevation ot' the ironing-board as clamped to a table; Fig. 2, view of the under surface of the board with the legs drawn out; Fig. 3, perspective view ot' the turn-table with part ot' the board broken away to exhibit the former.
This invention consists in pivoting the ironin g-board upon an attached turntable beneath the board, by which it is attached or clamped to the edge of a table or other support.
One of the forms in which I construct this invention is as follows, and as illustrated by the drawings, where- A represents a table; B, the ironing-board, provided with a metal turn-table, a, pivoted flat upon the under surface of the same by a pin, b, and having two screw-clamps, d d, projecting at right angles downward from one edge, and by which the whole is attached to a table. Opposite these, at the other side of said turntable, are two standards, or short legs, e e, of
the same length as, and parallel with, the base stems of the clamps d d. On the end of the board is a third clamp, f, used to confine the same to the turn-table after the latter is set in the required position for ironing.
The operation of this ironing-board is apparent. The board B is attached to the edge ot' a table, A, or other convenient place, by plac- The board cannow be swung round toany desired position.
That I claim as my invention is- 1. The combination, with the ironing-board B provided with pivot b and clamp j', of the turn-table a, provided with the standards e e and clamps cl d, as and for the purposes specified.
2. The ironing-board B and turn-table a, constructed as desori bed, and provid ed with the standards e e and clamps d d, in combination with the table A, as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing ironing-board I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day of April, 1874.
