lRONlNG-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 727,810, dated May 12, 1903.
Application filed August 28,1902. $eria1No. 121.303. (No model.)
To aZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY H. LANG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania,
5 have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which IO it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in [5 ironing-boards, and has for its object the construction of an ironing-board supported upon folding legs and provided with a bosom-board in such a manner that it can be laid over upon said ironing-board for use or folded beneath the same when not in use.
My invention is hereinafter more fully set forth and explained, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-'- Figure 1 is a side view in elevation of an ironing-board embodying my invention. Fig.
2 is a top or plan view of the same. Fig. '3 is a side view in elevation, sh'owing the same folded up.
In the drawings thus illustrating my in- 0 vention, A is an ironing-board. B and B are the legs thereof, pivoted thereto by means of a pivot 19 and pivoted together by the pivot b. A is a rack secured to the under side of the ironing-board A and adapted to engage 5 the upper end of the legs B, whereby the height of the ironing-board A can be adjusted to suit the operator, all of'which parts are of the usual and ordinary construction.
To the rear end of the under'side of the ironing-board A, I secure apivot c, to which 40 are pivoted links C, which pass up through open slots E E, out in the end of the board A, and to the opposite ends of said links 0 I pivot the rear end of a bosom-board O by means of pivots c. It will be seen that these pivots c and c and the links'Cwill support the rear end of a bosom-board and permit it to be in either the position shown in full lines in Figs. 1 and 2 or hanging down, as shownin dotted lines in Fig. 1, or folded back, as shown in Fig. 3.
Near the rear end 'of the 'under side of the bosom-board O, I secure a support D for the purpose of keeping the bosom-board raised above the ironing-board, as shown in'Fig'. 1.
Having thus shown and described my invention, so as to enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to construct and use the same, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United 7 States, is
HENRY II. LANG.
