To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. GAGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Columbia; in the county of Boone and State of Missouri,'have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in tables of the class having a stationary portion and a revolving portion, and has for one of its objects to improve the construction and increase the efliciency and durability of devices of this character.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wherein the parts may be readily disconnected in event of the breakage or impairment of any of the parts to enable the broken part to be renewed without discarding the remainder of the table.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereafter shown and described, and then specifically pointed out in the claims, and in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of the improved table; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same with the revolving central portion detached.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.

The improved table comprises a central support 10 having lateral branching feet 11 at the lower end. The table portion of the improved device comprises a plurality of laterally extending arms 12 beveled at their inner ends to form radial joints 13 which engage face to face and bear by their beveled portions upon the upper end of the central support 10. The support 10 is provided with a longitudinal central bore to receive a vertical socket 14, the inner ends of the arms 12 being concaved to fit closely around the outer face of the socket above the central support 10. The socket 14 is provided at its upper end with a laterally extending plate 15 which bears over the central beveled portions of the arms 12, the plate being of greater diameter than the support 10 and overhangs the same. Bearing beneath each of the arms 14 and against the support 10, is a bracket 1.6, the brackets being secured by screws or other fastening devices 17 to Specification of Letters Patent.

the arms and to the support. The flange plate 15, as before stated, overhangs the support 10, and likewise overhangs the inner portions of the brackets 16, and bolts or other suitable fastening devices 18 are extended through the plate 15 the arms 12 and the bracket 16, the brackets plate and arms being thus firmly secured and clamped together. By this means a very strong and effectual connection is produced between the arms 12 and the support 10, so that the arms are reinforced and strengthened and rendered sufliciently rigid to support the table structure and obviate any tendency of the arms to sag.

The table structure of the improved device is formed in two portions, an outer annular portion 19 and an inner circular portion 20. The outer portion 19 is supported upon the arms 12, and is formed with an outer drop or facer member 21 and spacer blocks 22, the latter maintaining the annular member 19 spaced above the arms 12. Any required number of the arms 12 and blocks 22 may be employed, but generally six will be used as shown, and spaced at equal distances apart.

Connected to the lower face of the central circular table portion 20, is a stud or center pin 23 having a lateral head 24 which bears beneath the member 20 and is secured thereto in any suitable manner, and is likewise provided with an annular channel or track to receive bearing balls 26. The balls bear upon the upper face of the flange plate 15 and thus produce an efficient ball-bearing joint between the circular table member 20 and the supporting structure. The table member 20 is provided with a plurality of upwardly directed knobs 27 spaced, apart and located near the mar 'n. The member 20 fits relatively close wlthin the annular member 19, and is preferably arranged with its upper face level with the upper face of the member 19. It will thus be obvious that an effectual and durable table device is constructed having an inner revolving portion. Thevouter portion 19 is designed to contain the plates, knives and forks, spoons, drinking glasses, and other individual tableware, while the plate 20 contains the condiment receptacles, water pitchers, plates of bread,

cake and other like articles, spoon holders,

sons sitting at the table by simply rotating the central member 20, the knobs 27 providing ready means for thus rotating the center member.

The improved device is simple in construction, can be inexpensively manufactured and is strong and durable and owing to its novel form of construction, is able to withstand any severe strains to which it will be subjected. The improved device may be constructed of any required size and of any suitableonaterial and likewise of any desired form, but will preferably be circular as shown.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. A table comprising a central standard,

a plurality of arms extending radially from the standard, a bracket secured to the standard below each of said arms, said bracket forming a support for the arms, a plate mounted on the upper end of the standard, said plate being of a diameter in excess of that of the standard, its edge port-ion which projects beyond the standard being connected to the arm supporting brackets by bolts which pass through the arms, and a table rotatably supported by said late.

2. In a table, a central standar a plurality of radial arms disposed at their inner ends upon the standard, a fixed top section supported by the arms and having a central opening, a holding plate having a central socket fitted within the upper end of the standard, the inner ends of the arms abutting against the walls of the socket and the plate resting upon the said inner ends of the arms, a rotatable top section arranged within the opening in the fixed top section, and a plate secured to the under side of the said rotatable top section and having a central stud rotatably fitting in the socket.
