HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 7, 1908.
Application filed March 4, 1908. Serial No. 419,076.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP COHEN, of Wal than), county of Middlesex, State of Massachusetts, have inventedan Improvement in Hose Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hose-supporters, and has for its object to provide a hose-supporter with improved means for engaging the ose, the parts of which are contiguously disposed, so as to occupy but little space, and are securely held against displacement relative to each other, yet permitted, one to swing and the other to bend, for the urpose of manipulating them 'to engage an disengage the hose.
Figure'l is a erspective view of a 1hose- 1g. 2 is a detail of the metallic button-engagingI plate. Fig. 3 is a detail of the flexible but' ton-s11 pporting tab. Fig. 4 is a section showmg particularly the fastening by which the tab and plate are held from displacement the metal relative to each other. Fig. 5 is a sectional detail of the fastening for connecting the tab to the loop, and for holding the plate from displacement.
a represents the elastic band which extends around the leg, having an eye-plate a at the end, which is adapted to engage a hook a formed on a plate a which is slotted to receive the elastic band.
11 represents a flexible band which is folded 'upon itself to form a loop. This loop depends from the plate (L3. It may be made elastic if desired. It is'herein shown as a continuation of the same band which extends around the leg. It supports a metallic plate c, and a tab (Z, which are arranged thereon and which are contiguously disposed,.so as to occupy but little space. The metal plate 0 is slotted at its upper end as at c to receive the loop, and has an opening 0 throiwh it which is made wide at its upper end anu narrow at its lower end. Such a plate is common in hose supporters. The tab (1, is composed of leather. It is made of a shape and size to correspond to the shape and size of late a. It has a slot (1 at its upper end wliich'receives the loop, and it has a button (it .at its lower end projecting outward from its front side which isadapted to enter the opening in the metal late 0. This button is riveted to the tab. W hen the plate and tab are contiguously dis osed, the slots at the upper ends thereof, w ich receive the loo register with each other, and the plate ant tab when arranged on said loop occupy but little space.
' The upper end of the tab is extended beyond the upper end of the plate, as represented at (if, and a fastening e, such for instance as a two. pronged sta le, is driven through both the front and ack ortions of the loop and through the extenslon d of the tab to thereby securely connect the tab with the loop. The fastening e which thus secures the tab to the loop is located just above the up er end of the plate, and'thereby serves to hold said plate in correct osition relative to the tab at all times. ith a plate and tab thus connected with the loop the plate is permitted to swin or to be lifted with respect to the tab, an( the tab is permitted to bond, for the pur ose of engaging or disengaging the hose without displacement of one with respect to the other.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is I.
In a hose-supporter, a flexible tab having a button, a plate having a button-receiving opening, said late and tab being contiguously disposed and each having a slot, 2. flexible band )assing through said slots and formed into a loop, said tab having its upper end extended beyond the upper end of the --plate'and a fastening passing through both portions of the loop and through theextended portion of the tab at a point above the plate, to thereby connect the tab with. the loopand hold the plate with respect to the tab, permitting the tab to bend and the plate to swing when engaging or disengaging the hose, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.-
' PHILIP ((lllEN.
