Description

PATENTED JAN. 24, 1905.
M; H. GER-STLB. COMBINED HOSE SUPPORTBR AND CORSET STEEL LOCK APPLICATION FILED O01.'5, 1904.
INVENTOR i /7414a WITNESSES:
' AITORNE UNITED STATES Patented January 24, 1905.
MoRRIs H. GERSTLE, OF NEW YORK, n. Y.
COMBINED HOSE-SUPPORTER AND CORSET-STEEL LOCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 780,652, dated January 24, 1905. I Application filed October 5, 1904. Serial No. 227,315.
My invention relates to a combined hosesupporter and corset-steel lock, and has for its object the holding of the supporter in po-, sition so that it cannot become displaced, and, furthermore. to prevent the accidental detaching of the corset-clasp elements.
With these ends in view my. invention consists in the details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully set forth and designated by the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation illustrating my improvement as it appears when secured in position for use; Fig. 2, a detail perspective view of the metallic front plate.
Similar numbers of reference denote like parts in both figures of the drawings.
'1 is a metal plate the main body portion of which is conveXo-concave as to its front and rear faces, respectively, and having at its upper sides obliquely-disposed slots 2 and at its lower portion horizontally-disposed slots 3. Projecting upwardly from the middle of the upper edge of this plate are twin fingers 4, which are separated by a space 5, slightly greater than the diameter of the shank of. the corset-stud 6. The bases of these fingers are in the same plane with the body of the plate 1; but the ends of said fingers are depressed toward the rear face of the plate, so as to form an inclined step 7 in each of said fingers. Through the slots 2 are attached a buckle 8 and waist-strap 9, and from the slots 3 are the usual locking-loop12, which is engaged with the usual stud 6 to secure the sections of the corset together, and in utilizing my improvement the fingers are disposed on opposite sides of this stud and then forced upwardly, so as to bring the bases of the fingers beneath thehead of the stud. This will cause a firm impact between the stud-head and the fingers, and not only will the plate be held as against vertical or horizontal displacement, but the corset loop and stud cannot become accidentally detached. The strap 9 is passed around the waist of the wearer and secured to the buckle 8. The forcing of the bases of the fingers beneath the head of the stud causes the main body of the plate to press firmly against the abdomen after the manner of a truss, and in this connection I would say that this plate may be of any approved shape.
My improvement is exceedingly simple and is attached in position for use without the aid of any auxiliary device whatever and may be attached or detached without clasping or unclasping the stud 6 and loop 12.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A combined hose-supporter and corsetsteel lock, comprising a metal plate, hose-supporter elements suspended from the bottom of said plate, a waist-strap and buckle attached to the upper ends of said plate, and twin fingers projecting upwardly from the middle of said plate and separated by a space slightly greater than the diameter of the shank of the stud of a corset-clasp, the free ends of said fingers being depressed toward the rear face of said plate, substantially as shown and described.
2. A combined hose-supporter and corsetslots, and hose-supporter elements suspended IO from said horizontal slots, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
