IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-HOLDERS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it .known that I, J. SPENCER WHITE, of the city of Prescott, in the county of Pierce, and State of Wis consin, have invented a new and useful Device for Hold ing Open Doors and Window-Blinds; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device as affixed to the door and wall for use.

Figure -2 is a perspectiveview of the hollow cone-' shaped clasp.

Figure 3 is a view, partially in section, of the lock, showing its latch, spring, and thumb-key.

Figure 4 is a view of the clasp and lock as latched together.

The nature of my invention consists in constructing of suitable material'a fastener for holding open doors and shutters, consisting of a hollow cone open atA its point or apex, and which is fastened on the wall against which the door, intended to be fastened, lies when open, and a pyramid-shaped look, provided with a latch and spring in its interior, and athuInb-key ru'nning into-it. The head of said latch protruding out through and into a bowl on the top or point of said-lock. Said lock being secured to theback of the door or shutter at such a point that, whensaid -door or shutter is opened, the bowl on the top of the lock will fit over the point or apex of the hollow cone secured on the wall, and receive the full force of the Ablow occasioned by the Contact, and the head of the latch in the lock, which protrudes into said bowl, will pass through the hole in the top or apex of the hollow cone into the body of the same, and be held therein, by means of the spring in the lock, until unfastened by means of pressure applied to the thumbkey.

In the accompanying drawings- R, iig. l, represents the wall against which the door or shutter, intended to be fastened, lies .when open.

S, fig. 1, is the door or shutter.

A is the hollow cone as fastened on the wall R.

c is the opening in the point or apex of the cone.

B is the pyramid-shaped lock.

d is the bowl on its top. c is the latch, the head of which protrudes out into the bowl d, and through the opening e in the apex 0f the cone A. p

h, figs. 3 and 4, is a pivot on which the latch c works back and forward.

f is a spring placed behind the latch c, t0 hold it in its position, and to lock it to the cone c.

g is the thumb-key, running into the lock, and attached to the latch c, and by means of which said latch is pressed back when it is desred'to unlock the fastener.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-

The cone A, the lock, B, with the bowl d, latch c, spring f, and thumb-key g, constructed and arranged for the purposes as herein .set forth and described.
