lUNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
RAYMOND K. STEVENS, OF SIDNEY, IOWA.
ANECK-YOKE ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RAYMOND K. STEVENS, citizen of the United States, residing at Sidney, in the county of Fremont and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck-Yoke Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object an improved attachment for neck yokes, adapted to hold the pole straps in their proper places, and prevent them from slipping towards the center or off over the ends of the neck yoke, rendering the straps useless.
The invention consists in certain constructions, and arrangements of the parts which I shall hereinafter fully describe and claim.
For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction of the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved neck yoke attachment, showing it ap plied. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view with one of the attachments on an enlarged scale. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view thereof, .the section being taken through the yoke.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral l designates a pole, 2 the neck yoke thereof which is secured in any desired manner on the end of the pole, 3 the breast straps that are secured to the ends of the neck yoke, and 4 the pole straps.
My invention comprehends a pair of keepers for the ends of the pole straps 4. Each of these keepers comprises a base plate 5 which may be made of malleable or cast iron or other suitable material adapted to be secured to the front` side of the neck yoke, said plates being of any desired length according to the width of the straps that they are intended to accommodate.I On each of these straps a pair of straight angular arms 6 and 7 arev formed or secured, said arms extending out- Speccaton of Letters Patent.

wardly from the front face of the base plate at substantially right angles thereto, and then extending towards each other as shown. The laterally extending ends of the arms are disposed at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the base plate and are approximately parallel to each other, the said arms terminating in knobs 8 located one above the other when the device is in an operative position. The arm 6 is preferably considerably longer than the arm 7 and the space between the knobs 8 permits of the ready engagement or disengagement of the pole straps but securely holds the same against accidental displacement. It is intended that these keepers be manufactured in rights and lefts and that they be secured to the neck yoke near the ends thereof with the longer arm 6 pointing outwardly or towards the adjacent end of the neck yoke. This is clearly illustrated in Fig. l. And it is also intended that the longer arm 6 extend slightly in an upward direction, while the shorter arm points slightly downwardly.
The loops at the ends of the pole straps 4 are inserted in an edgewise direction between the ends of the angular arms, and after having been once inserted it is manifest that the pole straps will be prevented from working towards the center of the neck yoke, or out over the ends of the latter, in which latter event, particularly, the pole straps would be rendered useless and would also interfere with the breast straps 3.
From the foregoing description in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that I have provided a very simple, durable and efficient construction of neck yoke attachment, which will operate to advantage in holding the ends of the pole straps in proper place, and in which said straps may be inserted and from which they may be detached whenever desired in an expeditious manner and without much trouble.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
Thev herein described neck yoke attachment comprising an elongated base plate, cooperating arms carried by the base plate in a parallel and spaced relation thereto, the
outer ends of the arms being extended inmit of aready engagement or disengagement Wardly and secured to the base plate While of a strap from the attachment. l0 the inner ends terminate in knobs, one of said In testimony whereof l affix my signature arms being longer than tlle opposite arm, and in presence oftwo Witnesses.
the said arms being deleeted at an angle to RAYMOND K. STEVENS. the longitudinal axis of the base plate and Witnesses: being disposed parallel to each other, the two CHARLES W. STEVENS,
knobs being located one over thel other to ad- EARL C. HOLLOWAY.
