GARMENT HANGER.
APPLICATION FILED DEC. 21, 1907.
H 7' 70191115 VS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AARON SCHLANG, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
GARMENT-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 14, 1908.
Application filed December 21, 1907. Serial No. 407,472.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AARON SoHLANG, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Garment-Hangers, of which t 1e following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of this invention is to rovide a garment hanger of the usual form a apted to be suspended by a hook from any suitable supplort, and which is designed to contain mot balls or other germicide 'or insect destro g material.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of m im rovement are designated by suitabli reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a side view of my im roved garment hanger plan view thereo and ;Fig. 3a section on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
In the practice of my invention I provide a garment hanger (1, comprising a'top member b and bottoni member 0. The to member b may be usedindependently of t e bottom member if desired, and said top member is of what is known as the usual bow-shape and comprises a bottom part b and top part 6 The bottom part b of the hanger member I) is provided in the top thereof with a longitudinal channel or chamber 6 adapted to contain moth balls 6 or any other germicide or insect destroying or reventing material, and the bottom side wa ls of the channel or chamber 1; are perforated or provided with apertures b.
The top part b of the hanger member 6 is adapted to close the channel or chamber 1), and is secured to the bottom part by a bolt 0 which is passed therethrough and provided at its upper end with a suspending hook c and at Its lower end with a nut 0 and the top part b ofthe hanger member I) is also slightly shorter than said hanger member, and is provided at its opposite ends with ton es b which fit in corresponding recesses in t e end portions 6 of the part b and the ends of the part b of the top member of the hanger are provided withdownwardly directed extensions b in which the bottom member 0 is secured. One end of the ibotartly in section, Fig. 2 a
tom member 0 is provided with a trunnion 0 adapted to enter a corres onding recess in the one end portion b of the top member of the hanger, and theo'pposite end portion 1) of the top member of the hanger is provided with a laterally ranging groove or recess 0' adapted to receive a corresponding trunnion c on the end of the member 0, and pivoted at c is a catch 0 ads. ted to engage the trunnion c and hold it in the groove or recess c.
The bottom member 0 of the hanger consists of a rod or bar, and as thus constructed the said bottom member may be detached when not desired for use, and the top member b may be used separately as a com )lete hanger, or the said parts may be used together as shown in Fig. 1 whenever desired.
In practice a coat, vest or other garment may be suspended from the top member I) of the hanger in the usual manner, and when desired trousers or other garments may be suspended from the bottom member of the han er.
The entire hanger is preferably composed of wood and may be made of any desired di mensions, and in this way I provide a hanger Of theusual form which also serves as a receptacle for moth balls or similar material. and by which the said moth balls or other material is held in the best possible position in order to accomplish the result for which the same is intended.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A garment hanger of the usual form comprising top and bottom parts, the bot tom part being provided with a longitudinal channel or chamber in the top thereof which is closed by the top part, the walls of said channel or chamber being perforated.
2. A garment hanger of the usual form comprising top and bottom parts, the bottom part being provided with a longitudinal channel or chamber in the top thereof which is closed by the top part, the walls of said channel or chamber being perforated, and said parts being held together by a bolt passed centrally through the same and provided at its upper end with a hook.
3. A garment hanger of the usual form comprising top and bottom parts, the bottom part being provided with a longitudinal channel or chamber in the top thereof which is closed by the top part, the walls of said channel or chamber being perforated, and
said parts being held to ethe'r by a bolt passed centrally throughthe samemid provided at its u per end with a hook and at its lower end with a nut, the ends of the top part 5 being also provided with tongues which fit in corresponding recesses in the ends of the bottom part.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in pres ence of the subscribing witnesses this 20th 10 day of December 1907.
