SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 723,587, dated March 24, 1903.

Be it known that I, FREDERICK H. CoWLEs, of the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hangers for Trousers or Skirts, of which the following is a specification.
Myimprovement consists in a rod extended back and forth in a horizontal or approximately horizontal plane, with parallel or approximately parallel portions in close proximity, the ends being extended upwardly to serveas connections with any suitable support.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a top view of an article embodying my improvement. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same. 7

deem it preferable to construct this of a straight metal -rod and produce the desired formation by bending the same. Thus made it will be resilient, and resilience is a matter of importance. I do not, however, wish to be confined to any special material. The spaces between the portions a a a a a a a a a have openings a a 0. e (L22 a alternately at opposite sides of the article. The extreme ends (1. 0. are bent upwardly, and the end (1 is extended rearwardly to the plane or substantially the plane of the end a and are in approximately the same horizontal plane except the ends, which are in approximately the same vertical plane. It will also be observed that the portions 0, a a a a a a a a are substantially parallel.
By the terms parallel or substantially parallel when speaking of the portions a a -&c., I mean portions the garment-supporting surfaces of which are in parallel straight lines.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A hanger for garments, consisting of a rod constructed at one end for attachment to a support, and extending thence vertically, thence substantially horizontally and back and forth substantially horizontally to form substantially parallel portions adapted to coact-to receive and hold between them a garment, thence upward and rearwardly, and terminating in an end portion constructed for attachment to a support.
