Application flied January 9, 1907. Serial No. 861,548
To all whom it may concern: j
Be it known that I, Vroron HANSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at S arks, in the county of Washoe and State of evada, have invented new and useful 11nprovements in Attachments for Shirts, of-
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates 'to shirts, being especially directed to a suspenders attach ment therefor, and has for its objects toprovide' a comparatively simple, inexpensive device of this character wherein the suspenders will be practio'all concealed from View, one in which the weig t of the lower garment will be borne by the shoulders of the wearer, and one wherein the runner straps may be conveniently adjusted. to aocord w'ith the desired height at which the. lower garment is to be sup' orted.
With t ese and other objects in view, the invention comprises the novel .featiy'es of construction and combination of parts more fully hereinafter described v .In-the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is afrontelevation of a shirt equipped with a suspenders attachment embodying the -invention, and showing the same ap lied for use. Fig. 2 is-a rear elevation of t e same Fig. 3 -is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 off 2 and with the runner straps removed. 4 is an enlarged detail, sectional view showing the manner of attaching the end of the strap to the garment to form the loops. Fig. 5 s an elevation of the rear du lex runner strap.
eferring a the drawings, a will be seen -that the suspenders attachment'comprises a pa1r of straps or bands 1 composed of canvas inen elastlc or other appropriate material:
applied-to the inner face of the upper body garment or shirt 2-in position to extend over the shoulders of thewearer and having their end portions lead outward throu h openings 3 at the front and rear faces of 1; 1e garment,
said end portions, which are re-turned u ward in line-with theflbodyportions' of t e straps, being attached to the garment by transverse rows of stitches 4 to form at the outer face of the arment a vertical series of esigned. to receive runner to we; garment 9. It will be understood in a eachof its terminal portions provided with'a series of the loops or eyes 5 formed by attaching said 'ortion, to the outer face of the garment in t any mine. of saidloops may receive the adjacent runner strap in the'opera'tion of adjusting the parts, as hereinafter explained. The end portions of the straps 1 are at'the rear close proximity to receive a duplex'runne'r strap 6 presenting three hnttonholes 7 for engagement with a corresponding number of ter, as'seen inFi 3,'whereby-, when the garment is applied t a shoulder portions thereof will remain loose .and comfortable, while the straps will extend directly over, and for the the shoulders of the wearer.
It is to be noted. that under'the improved cally wholly concealed frdm" fiew, w- 'le at the same "time an uncomfortable drawing of the shirt over the shouldersfof the wearer 'i'ustment ofthe suspenders for holding the ower garment at the desired height maybe 6' in different ones 0 t e loops 5.
I claim is:
for shirts comprising a' stra the' inner fare of the shirt an having its intermediate portion free from engagement with the garment, and'portion's of said-strap extending through the garment to the-outer face of the latter, said end portions being so:
D, H. "swans.
emanner explained and that buttons 8 at the rear of the lower garment.-

construction the suspenders willbe, ractiwill be obviated,'and further, that an-adcured to the outer .face of the garment at a face of the garment disposed in sufiiciently efl'ected by arrangin the runner-cords 6 and I 9o Having'th us describ .my invention, what- The herein described suspender attachment v disposed on
