To all whom, it my concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. SIBLE, of Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin, and State of Pennsyl- Vania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Raising or Moving and Fastening Window-Sash; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact'description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures vof reference marked thereon. y

Figures 2 and 3 are details.

y My invention relates to devices forA raising and fastening window-sash; and

It consists in adjusting a coiled sprig, or its equivalent, to the window-frame, and connecting'one end thereof to the side of the sash for raising, and combining therewith a clamp operating upon a perpendicular rod set in the sash, for the purpose of fastening.

The letter A, of the drawings, represents a coiled spring adjusted in a drum, and placed in the windowframe contiguous to the window-sash, at a point near the top thereof, the lower end of which spring is attached to the sash in the manner shown.

A belt of India rubber or a spiral spring may bev made to serve the same purposes as the coiled spring herein represented, but I ,think the coiled spring is preferable.

The letter B is a metallic rod, adjusted perpendicularlyin the window-sash, as shown, the object of which is to provide a base or fulcrum for the action of the lever-clamp hereinafter mentioned.

The letter C is a lever-clamp constructed in the form. represented, pivoted in a mortise cut horizntally through the side of the sash, and clasping the rod B, in the manner shown.

My device operates as follows, to Wit:

'Io raise the window, place a thumb on the end of clamp C inside the'sash, and press it downward. The coiled 'spring immediately raises the sash to the height desired, when, by removing the thumb fromthe clamp, the sash becomes stationary.

To lower, the sash, the end of the clamp must be held' against the top of the mortisl in which it operates.'

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A window-sash mover and lfastener, having spring A, rod B, and clamp O, constructed, combined, and operating substantially as specified.
