DISPLAY-TABLE.

Specification of Letters Patent.
I'atented May 14, 1907.
Application filed December 26, 1906- Serial No. 349,370.
To all whonz it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL I. BERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rushford, in the county of Fillmore and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Tables, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to tables for displaying relatively small articles of merchandise, and its object is to produce a table having numerous suitably-arranged small compartments for holding separate and attractively displaying a large assortment of small arti cles. Such table is desirable for the use of store-keepers, commercial travelers, and others for the display of their wares, samples, and articles of merchandise generally that are capable of being contained and exhibited in comparatively small display compartments.
My improvements are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of a display table embodying my improvements; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the table shown in Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the table on the line .22 of Fig. 2.
In the drawings 1 designates the sides, 2 the ends, and 3 the legs of a table, which may be of any usual or suitable construction. On this frame is secured a'flat table-top 4 the ends of which are by preference some what rounded in shape. An upwardly extending rim or flange 5 is secured around the table-top to furnish the outer walls of a series of rectangular compartments 6 along the sides of the table and compartments 7 of irregular shapes along the curved ends of the table. The inner walls of the compartments 6 are formed by a pair of of partitions 8 extending lengthwise of the table; and the inner walls of the compartments 7 are formed by curved pieces 7* arranged concentrically within the rounded end walls. Short partitions 9 extending cross-wise of the tableconstitute the side walls ofthe former compartments; and other partitions 10 arranged at varying inclinations furnish the side walls for the end compartments 7.
Other com artments 11 and 12 are arranged in inc ined positions adjacent to the compartments 6 and 7, and are constructed in the following manner. To the backs of the partitions 8 are secured strips 13 of triangular shape which form the outer walls of the compartments 11. Two boards 14 placed at opposite sides of the middle of the table in inclined positions furnish the bot toms for the compartments 11. The ends of these boards abut end pieces 15 and are secured to them. The upper edges of the boards 14 are secured to triangular pieces 16; and short partitions 17 form the side walls of the compartments 11. The end compartments 12 may be of similar construction and separated by partitions 18.
On top of the triangular pieces 16 is attached a shelf 19; on this is a second shelf 20 supported on legs 21 which are made fast to the shelf 19.
In use the various compartments 6, 7, 11, and 12 and the shelves 19 and 20 can be made to serve for displaying different articles. Such tables have proved to be very convenient and desirable for use by salesmen, merchants, and others, for the display of wares.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A display table comprising a table-top, an outer series of horizontal compartments and an inner series of inclined compartments thereon, substantially as set forth.
2. A display table comprising a tabletop, an outer series of horizontal compartments and an inner series of inclined compartments thereon, and a shelf over the middle portion, substantially as set forth.
3. A display table comprising a table-top, an outer series of horizontal compartments and an inner series of inclined compartments thereon, composed of upper and lower triangular strips and longitudinal bottom boards and transverse partitions, substantially as set forth.
4. A display table comprising a table-top, an outer series of horizontal compartments and an inner series of inclined compartments thereon, composed of up er and lower triangular strips and longitu inal bottom boards and transverse partitions, and a shelf su ported on the triangular strips, substantial y as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses this 20 day of December, 1906.
CARL I. BERG.
