declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, sucent to enable others skilled in thevart to which our invention appertains to fully understand and use the' same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part of this specication, and in which- -Iligure 1 is a front viewof the device, illustrating our invention, and

Figure 2 isa side view thereof.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the two figures.

This paper-tile consists of a suitable stock or frame, to which the papers or sheets are ilnpaled by a detain'- ing-rod armed with prongs; and around a partfof said frame is a marginal casing or. series of card-holders, designed to afford an effective means of displaying a numberof business-cards. i

I'n the drawings, A may represent a' stock or frame, `of wood, metal, or other material.

'It will be seen that the frame A is so constructed as to support the papers containedin the le 'at or near their outer edges. The advantage of this will be readily appreciated by' those accustomed to use the ordi nary files for newspapers.

When the rod C is turned down, so as to be, throughout its entire length, in contguity with the stock A, it is held at its free' end by a suitable. catch at D, the sheets being thus niade fast between the rod and the stock by the pins c.

E and E are' parts suitably connected together and joined to the frame or stock A, and constituting a series of cardholders, said parts being rebated or grooved in such a way that cards may be slid into them from the direction of the retaining-rod O. The cards being th ns intrmluced,l may be conined therein for any length of time, by the metallic strips F, or otherwise, said strips being screwed to the stock It will be noticed that when the newspapers are lproperlyattached tothe frame or stock, the entire inarvginal'seriesot cards 'will lbe exposed and presented tov the View of the spectator, simultaneously with the titlepage of the sheets on le, and; by their weight, serving to counterbalance the weight of the papers upon the part A of the frame.-
