To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, JENNIE L. BORNSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt Attachments for Sanitary Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to .vhich it appertains to make and use the same.

The object of my invention is to provide a supporting-belt for the improved sanitary support covered by Letters Patent of the r 5 United States No. 574,378, granted to me January 5, 1897; and my invention consistsin the novel features hereinafter described, refcrence being had to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one form in .which I contemplate embodying it, and said invention is fully disclosed in the following description and claims.

Referring to the said drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved 2 5 belt or support, showing it in connection with one of the sanitary supports covered by my former patent. Fig. 2 is a similar view drawn to a smaller scale, showing a slight modificat-ibn of the belt construction, the sanitary support being broken away.

In the drawings, A represents my im )roved sanitary support, covered by my ormer patent and provided at each end with an attaching-loop a. The construction of the support is fully disclosed in the patent referred to, and as its detailed construction forms no part of the present invention it will not be further described herein. 1

B represents the belt proper of my improved belt or support which consists of a and of tape or other material, the ends of which are provided with a'suitable catch to enable it to be quickly secured. In the present instance I have shown the ends rovided with the two-part locking-catch b of wellknown construction; but other means for securing the ends together may be emplo ed. I prefer, however, to employ a catch in w ich the tension of the belt serves to draw the parts more firmly together, as in the present case, in which one part b is provided with a stud b, which is drawn into ahoriaontallydisposed notch 12, provided in the other part. The tape forming the yoke C is folded diagonally at the lower end of the depending portion a, as shown at c and stitched 6 5 or otherwise secured, and then extends horizontally, as at c. The tape is then again folded diagonally, as at c, and stitched or otherwise secured, and it then extends upwardly, as at c, the upper end of the porti n 0 (which I term the detachable portion of the yoke) being provided with one part (i of a catch (1 d, similar to the catch b b, the other part (1 beingsecured to the end of the belt opf posite to the end to which the yoke-piece 0 1s 7 5 permanently attached. In this instance the slotted late 1 of the fastening is attached to the belt ,with the slot (1 in avertical position to receive the stud don the other part of the catch, so that the downward pull on the yoke will tend to draw the stud d more firmly into the slot (1. It will thus be seen that one end of the yoke C is permanently attached to one end of the belt and the other end of the yoke is detachably connected with the other end of the belt. The middle portion of the belt (which comes at the back of the wearer) is provided with a similar yoke E, made in the same form as the yoke C, and consists of the vertical portion e, permanently secured to the belt B the 9c horizontal portion e, which engages a loop a of the support A, and the detachable vertrcal ortion e, the horizontal portion e .being ormed by folding the tape diagonally, as shown at e e, and stitching or otherwise se- 5 curing the folded portions. The upper end of the detachable portion is provided with one part of a twoart catch f, similar to the catches b b an d d, the other part of the I catch being secured to the belt B.

It will be observed that the construction is such that when the belt is secured around the waist of the wearer either of the yokes C or E may be opened by detaching the detachable portion or member thereof for the purpose of attaching or detaching the sanitary support A without interfering with the fastening or catch of the belt. It is also apparent that the belt-fastening may be loosened and the belt removed from thebody without detach- 1 to ingit from the sanitary sup orter and without disturbing the yokes w 'ch engage the sanitary sup ort.

The belt g maybe made up in different sizes to fit persons having different waistmeasurcs, and such a belt is illustrated in Fig. 1. I contemplate, however, providing the belt with suitable means for adjustment, and to do this properly the belt should be provided with an adjusting device at each side, so that the positions of the front and rear yokes will not be disturbed.

What I claim,-and desire to secure by Letters Patent-,- is- 1. A supporting-belt for a sanitary support comprising among its members a belt proper provided at the front with a detachable fastening device, a depending yoke at the back of the belt pro er having one verti cal 'member permanent y attached thereto, and'the other member detachably connected to said belt and a horizontal member connecting the lower ends of said vertical members, and a similar depending yoke provided at the front of the belt adjacent to said fastening-and having one of its-vertical members connected permanently to the belt pro er on one side of-said'fastening and the ot er vertical member detachably connected to said belt on the other side of said fastening substantially as described. I

A supporting-belt for a sanitary support comprising among its members a belt proper provided at the front with a detach able fastening device, a depending yoke at the back portion of the belt proper consisting of an integral piece and comprising two vertical portions and a horizontal portion folded diagonally upon said vertical portions and attached thereto, one of said vertical portions being permanently attached to the eltproper, and the other vertical portion being detachably connected therewith, said belt proper being also provided at its front with a similar yoke, one of the vertical portions of the yoke being permanently connected to the belt proper on one side of the fastening of the belt, and the other vertical portion being connected detachably to the belt proper on the other side of said'fastening, substantially as described.

3. A supportingbelt'for--a sanitary support comprising among its members a'belt proper provided at the front with a detachable fastening device, and a depending yoke and having a similar depending yoke atthe rear of the belt, each of said yokes having one member permanently attached tothe belt and the other member detachably connected thereto, said belt proper being provided at each side with an-adjusting device forvarying the length of the belt, without disturbing the relative positions of the said yokes, substantially as described.
