neat, comfortable and inexpenslve swingparticularly adapted for the use of infants or children.
Figure I is a front elevation of aswing constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 11 is a detail view of the elements near the upper end of the swing.
Fig. 111 is a top or plan view of the swing.
Fig. IV is an enlarged fragmentary section showing one of the coils of the spreader frame and a suspension member secured thereto.
To illustrate the preferred form of the invention, Lhave shown a seat A in the form of a pocket made of pliable sheet material,
such for example as canvas or other fabric and having its upper margins secured to'a rigid rectangular seat frame B. The pocket A is a rectangular member having a bottom wall and four side walls, one of the side walls, being provided with a pair of limb receiving openings 1 at oints between the bottom wall and the rigid rectangular frame B. The upper margins of the pocket are folded over the frame B and stitched, as shown most clearly in Fig. III, so as to secure the pocket to said frame B.
The seat frame B is preferably a continuous wire, turned upwardly at the four upper corners of the seat to form the upturned wire elements 2 which are exposed at the corners of the seat.
A central hanger ring 3, at the upper end of the swing, is connected to the seat by means of four suspension straps 4, the lower ends of said straps being secured to the upturned wire elements, 2 at the corners of the rectangular seat frame B. lhe four suspension stra s are preferably made of two strips of abric, inserted through the hanger ring 3 and turned near their upper ends to form the loops 5 at the hanger ring.
6 designates rivets passing through the points near the hanger loop members at ring 3. C designates a rigid rectangular spreader frame, consisting of a single coiled at the corners of the rame to produce four eyes 7 through which the four suspension straps are inserted. This spreader frame is secured to the suspension straps 4%- by means of short straps 8 attached to the suspension straps at opposite sides of the eyes or coils 7.
The simple rigid rectangular wire fre Bqnay be easily manufactured and combinedwith the fabric elements of the device, to prodlmeci strong, safe and comfortable childs swing, the rectangular seat pocket A being firmly held by the wire frame B at its four upper mar 'ns, and the suspension straps 4: being wi ely separated by the rigid rectangular spreader frame C. y l claim p g A childs swing comprising a single rigid "rectangular seat frame, a rectangular fabric co lece of wire pocket having its upper margins folded over JOHN A. nannies.
