Be it known that I, HEINRICH FREISE, a subject of the German Emperor, and a resident of 213 Dorstcnerstrasse, Hainme, near Bochum, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cover-Locking Devices for Dust-Bins and the Like, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates-to a coverloeking device for dust-bins and the like.

The locking device according to the present invention is intended to keep the dustbin or the like closed until the same is inserted suilieiently far into the admission-opening of a dust-wagon suitable for the dust-bin in question in order to prevent its contents from being spilled. According to the present invention this object is attained by a bowshaped piece or the like arranged revolubly on the dust-bin engaging by means of its hook-shaped bend in such a way with projections, elevations, or the like arranged on the cover or lid of the bin that the said bow shaped piece is not sli ped off downward until after the dust-bin ias been inserted suiliciently far into the admission-opening of the dust-wagon, after which the cover or lid of the bin is released.

Consequently the bow g lies firmly on the cover 0, and consequently secures the latter in its closed position. It the dust-bin a is raised or tilted, it remains nevertheless usually closed in a dusttight manner. Not until after the insertion of the dust-bin a in the opening i of the frame k, Figs. 6 and 7, or the lowering of the same into the admission-o ening 0 in the wagon-cover s, Fig. 8, does t 1e cover-locking device come out of action. In the case of the wagon, a portion of which'is illustrated in Fig. 8, the release of the cover 0 does not take. place until after the tilting of the dust-bin a and the pressing backward of the closingflap 1*, arranged on the lever 9, said release being etl'ected by the part I of the bow g strikin on the ed e p of the, admission-opening 0 (Turing the lowering of the dust bin a into the admission-opening 0, which has become free after the fla 1' has been pressed back. The bow g is tiereby driven back, while the bin is being further lowered. The above-described (lust-bin can also be employed with other suitable dust-wagons or the like.

According to Figs. 1 and 2 the torus-roll or another elevation is arranged on the cover 0. Figs. 3 and 4 show a form in which the elevation d is extended in i'ront of the cover 0. The bow g is shaped in correspondence with the device. Fig. 5 illustrates the construction of the how 9 when the same engages with parts m, which project laterally over the cover 0.

- What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

1. A cover-locking device for dust-bins consisting of the combination with the bin of a hinged cover c, a substantially bow-shaped piece revolubly mounted on said bm, said piece having a hook-shaped bend adapted to engage with said cover in its closed position and lateral portions adapted to engage with l the sides of the atlmission-opening in the dust-wagon when the bin is inserted in said opening for the purpose of releasing the cover and enabling the contents of the bin to be discharged, substantiallv ZlS-(ltfit'l'llNtl.
