Be it known that 1, CHARLES H. BANGS, of Everett, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Cases and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

This invention relates to improvements in show-cases, and particularly to center showcases.

One object of the invention is to so construct a center show-case that articles exhibited therein may be viewed from all sides and from the top while the case is closed.

Another object of the invention is to so construct a center show-case that when the top is open access to the articles contained in the case may be had from the sides of the case.

Another object of the invention is to improve the construction of center show-cases.

The invention consists of a table provided with suitable supports and having a hinge or frame embracing said table below its upper surface and a case having glass sides and a glass top mounted on said frame.

The invention also consists in the manner of supporting the hinged frame.

The invention also consists in such other novel features of construction and combination of parts as shall hereinafter be more fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

is 'shown in the drawings, in its preferred form 5 indicates a table which may be of any suitable shape and dimensions, but, preferably, rectangular and furnished with any ordinary standards, of which fparts are shown at 6 6, the upper portions these standards extending outward from the under side of the table to form stops or supports 7 7, above which extends the .vertical edge 5 of the table. By means of the standards 6 6 the table 5 is Wholly supported for use as the ordinary center table and articles laced on the top of said table may be viewe from all sides and from the top and said articles may be reerably supported by the parts 7 7 of the standards 6 6, which extend beyond the edge 5 of the table, and said frame is preferably hinged to the top 5 to swing upward. In the upper edge of this frame 8 is preferably formed a groove 9, in which the glass sides 10 10 are mounted, these glass sides being held together at their upper edges by the groovedmetallic frame 11, which is shaped to fit over the top edges of all the sides 10 10. On the upper surface of this frame 11 is mounted the glass top 12, a strip of green-colored textile material 13 being preferably located between said top and said frame to afford a cushion for said top and to hide said frame, as is well known in the constructions of glass-top show-cases. The top 12 and the sides 10 10 are preferably secured to the frame 8 by means of bolts 14 14, which extend through perforations in the top 12 and the frame 8 and are secured by the nuts 15 15 below said frame. A look 16 is also provided on the table 5, which lock is of any well-known construction to lock the frame 8 in the closed position.

When the supported by the parts 7 7 of the standards 6 6, and the articles sup orted on the table 5 may be viewed throug the sides 10 10 or through the top 12, while when the case is swung upward, as indicated in Fig. 3, the entire top of the table 5 is open to permit the removal of the articles sidewise.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A center show-case comprising a table,

a rectangular grooved frame hinged to said table, glass sides mounted in the grooves of said frame, an inverted frame engaging the upper edges of said glass sides, a glass top mounted on the second frame, and drawing means mounted in the lower frame and adap ted to act on said glass to to draw the same toward the upper edges 0 the sides and to seprotecting-case is closed, it'is cure said top in position substantially as described.

2; A center show-case comprising a table, a grooved frame embracing said table and mounted to swing with respect to the table, glasssides mounted in said grooved frame, a glass top, and bolts extending through said top and secured to said frame, as and for the purpose described. 3. A center show-case comprising a table having supporting-standards projecting laterally therefrom, a grooved frame embracing said table and hinged thereto, the free end of said frame being adapted to be supported by the projecting portions of said standards,
