SAMUEL J. GIBSON, OF THE DALLES, OREGON.
WASHBOILER ATTACHMENT,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 12, 1905.
' Application filed January 4, 1905. Serial No. 239.631.
V To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL J. GIBsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at The Dalles, in the county of Wasco and State of Oregon, have invented new and useful Improvements in Washboiler Attachments, of which thefollowin is a specification.
This invention relates to washboiler attachments such as are designed to receive clothes after they have been boiled and to permit the water with which they are saturated to drain back into the boiler.
The objects of the invention are to improve and simplify the construction of such devices furthermore, to decrease the expense attending their manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the particular combination and arrangement of parts and in the precise details of construction hereinafter described and claimed as a practical embodiment thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan view of the improved attachment. Fig. 2 is an end elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Like. reference-numerals indicate corresponding parts in the different views.
As shown in the drawings, the improved attachment or clothes-strainer comprises a receptacle having a semicircular perforated bottom 1, which is provided with means to engage a washboiler 2, said engaging means being shown in the drawings as comprising a semicirculardepending vertical flange 3, which is cut away, as shown at 4, in order not to interfere with the handle 5 of the washboiler 2. Secured to the bottom 1 in any suitable manner is a semicircular flared Wall 6, which is provided with handles 7 and is strengthened by means of braces 8, which engage the semicircular flange 3 at their lower ends. The side of the improved attachment adjacent to the straight edge of the semicircular bottom 1 is open in order to permit the which is constructed of any suitable material and is attached to the ends of the flared wall 6 by means of attaching lugs or ears 10. The brace 9 serves not only to strengthen the bottom 1, but also to retain in position the clothes which have been placed in the strainer.
The improved attachment or strainer of this invention is strong, simple, durable, and inexpensive in construction, as well as thoroughly eflicient in use.
Havin thus described the invention, what is claime as new is A clothes-strainer comprising a receptacle having a semicircular bottom, a vertical depending semicircular flange secured to said bottom and being partly cut away, a semicircular flared wall, the side of said receptacle adjacent to the straight edge of said bottom being open, braces connected with the ends of said flared wall and with said semicircular flange, handles secured to said wall, and a wedge-shaped brace extending along the straight edge of said semicircular bottom on the upper surface thereof.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL J. GIBSON.
Witnesses W. Z. BRADSHAW N. WHEALDON.
