TO ALI-t WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, DANIEL HURST; of Petersburg, in the county of Adams,'an'd in the4 State of. Pennsylvania, haveinvented an Improvement in Fly-Nets; and I do herehy declare that the following 4is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, referencevbeing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference `marked thereon, which make part of this specification, and in which- Figurel represents a plan view of a portion ofthe upperside of a {1y-net constructed in accordance with 'my invention.
Figure 2, a similar view of a portion of the lower side of the same.
Figure 3, a view in perspective, showing thermen-ner of connecting the lashes to the middle rib of thc net; and.v
Figure 4 a similar view, showing the manner` of connecting the lashes toithevother ribs.
My invention consistsin an improved method of connecting the lashes'or thongs to the ribs of the net,
whereby ease 'and rapidity in manufacturing are secured, and the lashes eifectually prevented from slipping or becoming loose on the ribs.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the central rib of the {1y-nemend B' B other ribs, which are arranged at suitable distances apart, vand in any desired number, on each side of it, the whole being connected togetherby thethongs or lashes G. Each lash passes twice through a single hole in cach of the ribs, forming a double draw-lohp on the central rib, and a single one on each ofthe others. The manner in which these loops are made is clearly shownin'igs. 3 and 4.
The lash being doubled together atri'ts centre, the doubled portion ispassecl through oneof the holes in the t central rib, from thc upper sidether'eo', and the ends of the lash passed through the doubled part, forming a.
loop at each side of the rib, which loops being drawn tight, it is impossible for the lash to slip therefrom. The lashes are connected to the ribs on cach slide of the central rib, hy doubling themsat a suitable distance there'- from, insertingthe doubled part through the hole in the adjacent rib from the under side thereof, and passing the end of the lash through-it as before, in this case forming a single loop, which being draivn tight, the lash is connected tothe next rib in a similar manner, and so on upon each side ofthe central rib until the net is completed.
From the manner in which the lashes and ribsare connected, it will-be seen that they cannot slip or become v loose, while the simplicity and rapidity of-the operation very much cconomize the cost Vof manufacture.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim herein as new, and desire to secure by LettersV Patent, is
Connecting the ribs of a iiy-nct by lashes, each 'of which passes twice through one hole in each of the ribs, and forms two loops on the central rib, and one on each ofthe others, substantially as described.` i
In testimony thatfI claim the above-described improvement iniy-nets, I have hereunto signed my namc, this 11th day of June, 1358. I
' i DANIEL W. HURST.
