'To ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN: n Y p Be it known that I, THOMAS J. LINDLEY, of Medo'raf, inthe county of Jackson, and State of Indiana', have invented n. new and useful Improvement in Trnsses; and I do hereby declare that the 4following is a full,. clear, and exact description thereof, whichvwill enable others skilled in theart to make and use the same, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, forming pal'tof this specification, in whichi l Figure 1 is a s ide view of my invention. i
Figure 2 is a face view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. v v
Thisinventon relates to a new'and improved truss, of simple construction, whieh'may be manufactured at' a trilling cost, and be applied in such'a manner that the wearer may attend to any active business without any diiculty whatever. i i
The invention consists in havingVV the pressure-pad constructed ofwood, with a centre of lead fitted init, the face of the pad being convex, andthe lead centre being the most prominent. -i
Inthe accompanying sheet of drawingsrA represents a strap, of leather or other suitable material, which may be slitted longitudinally to form two parts, a 6, one to pass around the thigh,'a nd the other` around the body of the wearer; said parts being secured by buckles crc, attached to the uncut portion ofthe strap.
B represents La pressure-pad, which maybe constructed .of any suitable hard wood, such asmaple, for instance. IThis 'wooden pressure-pad is secured to the strap A by screws or other'suitable means, and at'the centre of the face of this wooden pressure-pad, which is the most prominent point, there is inserted a piece of lead, C, secured in any proper manner. l l i l The face side of the pad is made of convex l'orm, as shown clearly in iig. 1, and`thc`lead, 0,'is the most prominent part. lThis lead, C, Inay be of greater or less diameter, to suit the size of the orice'of the rupture.
Y This constitutes a very simple truss, it may be made by almost any one possessing a little'meehanical skill, as there are no movable or adjustable parts to be applied tothe strap.
Having thus described my invention, I clairn as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The wooden 4prossime-parl B, having an inserted lead centre, C, and atfached'to the strap A, all arranged substantially as and for Vthe purpose set forth.
`THOMAS J. LINDLEY.
