Description

PATENTED AUG. 1, 1905.
J. T. TARVER.
PLOW.
APPLIGATION nun D120. 31, 1904.
Altamey UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed December 31,1904. Serial No. 239,201.
Patented Aug. 1, 1905.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES THOMAS TARVER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Valdosta, in the county of Lowndes and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Plows, of which the following is a specification. H
My invention relates to plows; and it consists in certain novel features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, in which a perspective view of the plow is shown, 3 indicates the beam and 1 the handles. The plow standard or stock is indicated at 5, and it comprises two fiat pieces extending on opposite sides of the beam and fastened thereto by bolts 6 and 7, which extend transversely above and below the beam, as usual. The upper bolt fits on a notched block 8, secured on the upper side of the plow-beam. The rear end of the plowbeam is reduced in width, as at 9, and carries the supporting-standard 10 of the shoe 11. The standard is in two pieces, which extend on opposite sides of the beam, being bolted thereto, as at 12. A number of bolt-holes 13'are provided whereby vertical adjustment is had. The rear end of the shoe 11 is bolted to the standard 10, as at '14. At 15 is indicated a brace, which is fastened to the under side of the plow-beam by a bolt 16 and extends downwardly between the standard 5, being bolted thereto, as at 17. From the standard the brace extends rearwardly horizontally, as at 18, its
outer. end fitting between the standard 10 and bolted thereto, as at 19. The part 18 carries a downwardly-extending standard 20, to the lower end of which the front end of the shoe 1.1 is bolted, as at 21. pieces, which extend on opposite sides of the part 18, being bolted thereto, as at 22. A number of bolt-holes 23 are provided to permit adjustment of the shoe. A runner 24 is secured to the base of-the shoe by bolts 25.
A plow constructed as above can be fitted with any kind ofa shovel and is especially adapted for a sweep. The parts can be readily adjusted and the plow made to run deep or shallow.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination in a plow, of averticallyadjustable standard secured to the rear end of the beam, said standard being in two parts fitting on opposite sides of the beam; a shoe having its rear end secured to the lower end of the standard; a brace extending between the beam and the plow-stock and from the latter rearwardlyhorizontally, its outer end extending between and being secured to the afore said standard, and a standard adjustably secured to the horizontal portion of the brace, and supporting the front end of the shoe.
In testimony w hereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two sub scribing witnesses.
JAMES THOMAS TARVER.
