SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 793,91i4t, dated July 4, 1905.
Application filed January 9, 1905. Serial l lo. MOSHE.
To all whom/ it nut l concern.-
Be it known that l, Asuinu U. Snnrmicns, a citizen of the United States, residing in Mill Creek township, in the county of Coshocton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new 3 and useful Improvements in Paper-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists of a simple rack or holding device of a similar nature for papers or the like.
(:ienerally speaking, the holder comprising the invention consists of sides between which the papers or similar articles may be received and spring devices connecting the sides in such a manner that anything therebetween will be clamped or held in place by the springpressure of the sides thereof. At the same time the spring means utilized to connect the sides is designed to support articles received therebetween from displacement, and, if desired, the holder may be utilized to a certain extent as an advertising medium, since advertising matter may be suitably secured to a side thereof within the contemplation of the invention.
For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowl-- edge of the details of construction of the means for effecting the result reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings.
While the invention may be adapted to different forms and conditions by changes in the structure and minor details without departing from the spirit or essential features thereof, still the preferred embodiment thereof is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a holder or rack embodying the essential features of the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
Fig. 1. is a vertical sectional view.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawings, the holder or I rack, as shown, consists of spaced sides 1, be-
tween which the papers or similar matter may be disposed and supported in a position in which ready access may be had thereto for any purposes desired. The sides 1 may be made of any suitable material such as wood, metal, or the like--and, if desired, may be finished in an ornate manner to heighten the value of the device, the finish, of course, being dependent upon the particular use for which it may be especially designed. The sides 1 of the holder are secured together at their lower ends by means of springs 2, one of which is preferably located adjacent the end portions of the sides 1. However, any number of these springs may be provided with regard to the size of the holder. The springs 2 are of the coil type, and for attach ment of these springs it is preferred to utilize transverse strips 3, which are secured to the lower edge portions of the sides 1, protruding a short distance from the inner faces thereof. The strips 3 may be solid or of other formation and are substantially secured to the sides 1 or formed therewith in any suitable manner.
Opposite extremities of the material from which the springs 52 are made are received and secured to the strips 3 in such a manner that the coils or volutes of the springs 2 will be located just between the lower edge portions of the aforesaid strips In other words, the springs 2 are so disposed as to connect the sides 1. in the manner above described, and, further, the springs afford a plurality of base BlGIl'lGl'ltS between the sides which cooperate with the strips 3 to properly hold the papers or other matter which may be disposed in the holder.
ple in construction and may be made as cheaply or as expensivel y as desired without materially detracting from the general construction set forth hereinbefore. The invention is particularly adapted to be secured to a wall or like support and may be attached thereto in any suitable and substantial manner.
