It is the object of my invention to provide a device or appliance which is especially convenient for travelers, those visiting theaters and like places of public gathering, and for r such purposes as it may be conveniently adapted for.

As shown in the drawings, A isa plate, which may be made of any suitable or desirable form and preferably of aluminium or light metal, or a wire or other frame may be substituted. In the present case I have shown this plate as having at one edge a hook turned over, as shown at 2. At the opposite edge is formed one member, 3, of a hinge connection, and L is a wire curved into the form of a segment and having the other member of the hinge formed so as to engage with the part 3 of the plate. The ends of this curvedwire are bent inwardly and engage with a rim 5, as shown at 6. These ends form pivots about which the rim is turnable, and therim is of sufficiently small diameter of curvature so 4 that it will swing freely between the segmental arms 4. Within one side this rim carries a mirror7. Upon the other sideis a cushion or structure 8, which serves as an attachment for hat-pins or other similar articles. which thus serves to retain the parts in closed, condition. By lifting the opposite edge of the rim and cushion, so that these parts are turnable about the segment 4 and the latter within its hinge, the edge of the cushion may be withdrawn from the hook. The cushion may then be inverted, so that its convex surfacewill be presented in the direction corresponding with the back of the plate A and opposite to the hook 2. This hook may then be attached to the back of the theater or other seat in front of the one occupied by the per-- son carrying the device, and the cushion will then hang suspended therefrom. It is especially useful for ladies who after having removed their hats at any place of public enthem during the performance. ' tertainment find difficulty in properly holding- The device is also useful as a traveling companion, the cushion serving to contain pins andlike articles, and by turning the device so that the edge of the rim and the cushion rest upon the plate the curved wires will support the mirror at any desired angle. It can thus be used for arranging the collar, tie, hat, or other part of the apparel, and if carried by men this mirror will serve as a convenience when shaving if seated at a table. If it is desired to use it for the same purpose while the user .is' in a standing position, the mirror is turned so as to face toward the opposite side from the hook 2, and thelatter may then be hooked over any convenient projection, so as to hold the mirror at the desired height, and if not quite in the proper position by turning the rim which carries the mirror and cushion the mirror may be set at any desired angle for convenience of the user.

When not. in use, the device is folded by turning the yoke t about its point of hinging to the plate A and first introducing the edge of the cushion beneath the book 2 the mirrorface may be turned down against the plate with its edge entering beneath the hook, and the pivots of the yoke 4: working a little stifiiy in the holes in the rim will serve to sufficiently lock the parts in the most compact form and convenient to be placed in the pocket or other receptacle for transportation. Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination with a suspending-hook,

- of a yoke pivoted thereto, and a cushion turnsegmental portion forming the other member of a hinge, said yoke being substantially semicircular in form and having inturned ends, a rim having holes diametrically opposite with which the ends of the yoke engage and form a pivot about which the rim is turnable, a mirror carried upon one side of the rim and a convex cushion carried upon the other side.

4. A device consisting of a plate having a bent hook carried upon one end, a hinge member upon the opposite end, a semicircular yoke having inturned ends, the central portion of said yoke engaging and turnable within the hinge member of the plate, a circular rim having diametrical]y-opposed holes in its periphery with which the inturned ends of the yoke engage, a mirror carried upon one side of the rim, a cushion carried upon the opposite side of the rim, said cushion having a convexity and the parts being so disposed as to be folded together with the convex edge of the cushion engaging with and locked by the hook oi the plate.
