Be it known that I, Eva C. LEONARD, a citizen of the United States, residingV at Thompson, in the county of Susquehanna. and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Umbrella, Hat, or Like Supports, of which the following is a specification,

This invention relates to umbrella, hat or like supports, and has for an object to pro'- vide a device of this character which will ordinarily present the appearance of a ieceptacle, the said receptacle consisting of hingedly connected sections one of which being provided with suspension hooks or re taining elements whereby the device can be supported in a novel and simple manner on the back of a bench, chair or similar article of furniture.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a device of this character with supporting hooks and umbrella and hat supporting clasps arranged to be folded into the receptacle when not in use, and to provide one section of theherein described receptacle. with a pincushion or the like and the other section with a mirror.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent as the4 nature of the inventionis better set forth, and it will be understood that changes within the scope of the claim may be resorted to Without departing fromv the spirit of the invention.

Referring now more particularly to the drawing, there is shown an umbrella, hat or similar support consisting broadly of a receptaclecomprising sections 1 and 2 which are hingedly connected to each other as shown at 3, the section 2 having mounted therein at any suitable point a mirror 4. The section 1 is provided at suitably spaced points with cushion elements 5 and 6 which are covered b suitable material 7 secured in any suitab e manner to the back of the section 1 of said receptacle. This construction is such that when the hooks are -not in use they can be made to assume positions Within the receptacle. As clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 the section 2 of the receptacle carries a spring clasp 12 adapted to be engaged with a locking -pin 13 upon the section l.

.or the like supporting `clasps or fastening devices 1G. Each jaw 15 has pivoted thereto a jaw 1T, the jaws l5 and 17 being provided with co-engaging toothed edge portions 18. The jaw 17 of each clasp just described carries a `finger manipulating portion 19 with which and with a portion of the jaugl is engaged a spring 2O whereby the jaws 15 and 1T are normally engaged with cach other.

In use, the device can be applied in an obvious manner to the back of a bench or chair and one sitting behind the device can operate the lsame so that the sections, 1 and 2 can assume the positions shown n1 I4`1g.,1 ot the drawing. ln this manner the user has fuil access to the section l and can obtain a full view of hinlseltI or herself in the mirror 4 in the section 2.
