PATTERN-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 7, 1917.
Application filed .Tune 5, 1915. Serial No. 32,389.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Ismon A. CHAIKIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pattern-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to holders and more particularly to a device of this character especially designed for holding patterns of wearing apparel.
An object of the invention is the provision of a pivotally supported frame of novel and efficient construction supporting a plurality of detachable pattern hangers.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the pattern hanger applied to use,
Fig. 2 represents a front elevation of a pattern and the securing means therefor.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 indicates a sup porting plate having apertures therein for the reception of screws 6 or the like whereby the plate is secured in position upon a wall. A pair of bearing members 7 are secured to the plate 5 in spaced relation and receive the body 8 of a frame including a plurality of arms 9, 10 andrll. The upper or bracing arm 9 is extended a distance outwardly of the body 8 and is curved downwardly and directed inwardly as indicated at 11 to provide a supporting arm, the ex tremity thereof being curved upwardly as indicated at 12 and is spaced from the similarly curved terminal 13 of the supporting arm 10. The curved portions 12 and 13 of the frame form a Substantially semi-circular enlargement in the frame having an opening 14 in the most prominent portion thereof.
A plurality of rings 15 are movably disposed upon the lower portion of the frame and are prevented from accidentaly slipping through the opening 14: by the upwardly curved portions 12 and 13. When desired, the rings may be removed by slipping them upwardly over the curved ends 12 and 13 of the frame and outwardly through the opening 14 between said ends. Snap hooks 16 are detachably secured to the rings 15 and are provided with swiveled eyes 17 through which the patterns or other objects are permanently secured.
A ring 18 is slidably positioned over the lower horizontal portion of the frame and is swivelly connected with a link 19 by a bolt 20. The link 19 carries a plurality of detachable snap hooks 21 through the shanks of which are permanently secured the patterns or the like 22.
In placing the patterns on the holders, the same are preferably so arranged that the last numeral of the lot number of each pattern is the same on each holder. F or instance, the plate illustrated in Fig. 1 bears the numeral 5, and all patterns, the lot number of which ends with 5, such as 105, 205, etc., are placed on this holder.
What is claimed is:
A pattern holder comprising a supporting member, a frame pivotally secured thereto, said frame including a pair of horizontal supporting arms, and a substantially semicircular guard element at the adjacent ends of said arms having an opening in the prominent portion thereof, a plurality of annular members positioned on said frame, removable through the opening in the guard element and movable over said guard element from one arm to the other.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ISIDOR A. CHAIKIN.
Witnesses:
