FIG. 8.
' INVENTOR. ALBERT fl. ZAROW/N,
BY a
' ATTORNE x Patented May 16, 1944 KEY HOLDER Albert A. Zarowin, Brooklyn, N. Y., assignor to S. & Z. Hooks 00., Inc., Brooklyn, N. Y., a corporation of New York Application January 21, 1942, Serial No. 427,559
2 Claims.
This invention relates to a key holder.
The object of the invention is the production of a key holder, by means of which a snap hook for supporting a key or a plurality of snap hooks for supporting a plurality of keys can be easily attached or detached from the supporting plate of the key holder.
The second object of the invention is the production of a key holder with snap hooks for keys, which can be manually attached to or detached from the supporting plate of the key holder, without the use of any tools and the like.
The third object of the invention is the production of a key holder which is simple in construction and which can be manufactured at low cost.
Various other objects of the invention will be evident from the specification, drawing and claims.
In the drawing Fig. 1 represents an elevation of the key holder with its case in open position; Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevation of the snap hook for the holder; Fig. 3 indicates a top view of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 represents an enlarged section of Fig. 1 on the line 4, 4; Fig. 5 is an enlarged section of Fig. 1 on the line 5, 5; Fig. 6 indicates an enlarged section of Fig. 1 on the line B, 6 with a snap hook and key; Fig. '7 shows an elevation similar to Fig. 6 with the snap hook and key in position to be removed from the holder and Fig. 8 is an enlarged perspective view of the case and key holder with a portion in vertical section, and a snap hook in position to be removed from the holder.
The case, preferably of leather, is indicated at with the snap fastener 2!.
In Fig. 1 the key holder is indicated with one of its snap hooks suspended from the holder without any key hanging therefrom, a second snap hook and its key detached from the key holder and a third snap hook with its key suspended from the holder.
The key holder comprises the supporting plate 25, which at its upper end has integral therewith the plurality of cylindrical shaped heads 26 uniformly spaced from each other forming the slots 21. Each of the heads 26 at its lower end has formed therewith the seat 28, having the end 29 which latter is spaced from the plate to form the clearance opening 30. The seat 28 is at right angles to the supporting plate 25. Eyelets 33 connect the plate 25 to the case 20.
Snap hooks for the key holder are each indicated in its entirety by the numeral 40, and each comprises the pair of longitudinal members 4|, cylindrical in cross-section, which at their lower ends are connected by the curved supporting portion 42.
One of the members 4| at the open upper end of the snap hook joins with the inclined upper portion 43 and from the latter extends inclined end 44.
From the upper end of the other member 4| extends the inclined portion 43a, which joins with the longitudinal upper portion 45, and is provided with the supporting cap 46 at its upper end.
It will be noted that at the upper ends of the portions 43 and 43a is shown an opening 41.
Each of the snap hooks 4D is adapted to support a key 50 through its opening 5i. To detach any of the snap hooks 40 from its head 26, see Figs. 6 and 7, it is swung up in the direction of the arrow A, Fig. 6 to the position indicated in Fig. '7 and the cap 46 of the snap hook 40 is moved from the seat 28 and through the opening 30 in the direction of the arrow B, Fig. 7, to be detached from the head 26.
To attach any of the snap hooks 40 to the supporting plate 25, it is positioned as indicated in Fig. 7, with the cap 46 located in the opening 30 and is then swung as shown in Fig. 6 with said cap 46 bearing on the seat 23.
Various modifications may be made in the invention and the present exemplification is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof.
Having described my invention I claim:
1. For a key holder, the combination of a supporting plate and a plurality of cylindrical shaped heads spaced from each other integral with said plate, each of said heads having a seat at its lower portion with an end spaced from the supporting plate forming a clearance opening.
2. In a key holder the combination of a supporting plate, a plurality of cylindrical shaped heads spaced from each other integral with said plate, each of said heads having a seat at its lower portion and having an end spaced from the supporting plate forming a clearance opening and a snap hook for supporting a key having a supporting cap normally supported on each seat, each cap adapted to be moved through the clearance opening of its seat to remove it from its seat and thereby remove the snap hooks with their keys from the supporting plate.
