This invention relates to a display device, and it is an objectJ of the invention to provide a device of this kind particularly designed and adapted for use in the display of belts and other articles of wear.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind including a supporting element so constructed and assembled to provide means whereby an article may be readily applied thereto or removed therefrom,

A further object of the invention is to provide a device ofthis kind including a supporting element from which .a plurality of articles are adapted to be suspended and wherein such element is of a type to readily permit the removal of a selected article independently of the others.

The invention consists in the details 0f construction and in the combination and arrangement ofthe several parts of my improved display device whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a view partly in section and partly in elevation illustrating a display device constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention;

Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional View taken substantially lon the line 2-2 of Figure 1 with the balls or spherical members in elevation;

Figure 3 is a view in front elevation of one of the shanks as herein embodied unapplied.

As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, P denotes a pedestal or other desired support which has mounted thereon a rotating table I. Carried by the table I and extending outwardly and radially therefrom are a plurality of display elements D equi-distantly spaced around the table I. In the accompanying drawing only two of these elements D are disclosed.

Each of the elements D, as herein set forth, comprises an elongated bar 2 having one end portion, as at 3, threading into the peripheral face of the table I or otherwise rigidly secured thereto. This bar or member 2 is radially disposed With respect to the table I and the outer end portion thereof is formed to provide a socket 4 the outer end portion of which is open. Arranged within the socket 4 is a spherical member 5 which is constantly urged outwardly by an expansible member 6 herein disclosed as a coil spring within the vsocket 4 Vand interposed between the bottom thereof and the ball or member 5. The outer extremity of the wall of the socket 4 is dened by an inwardly disposed lip 1 to provide a stop for limting the extent of out- Ward movement of the ball or member 5 so that said ball or member 5 is held against complete displacement with respect to the socket.

, The peripheral portion of the table I adjacent to the innerend portion of each of the bars or members 2 has secured thereto, as at 8, an upstanding post 9 thru which is freely inserted the end portion of a second elongated member or bar l I0. The bar I0 is directly above and parallel with the bar or member 2 but the bar or member I0 is of a length to extend va material distance outwardly of the bar or member 2. The outer end portion of the bar or-member 2 is continued by a depending arm I I herein disclosed as integral therewith, and the lower end portion of this arm I I is continued byl an inwardly directed bar or member I2 which is substantially coplanar with the bar or member 2 and terminates in close proximity thereto. This bar or member I2, as herein disclosed, is integrally formed with the arm II and the outer end portion thereof is formed to provide a socket I4 in which is positioned a ball or spherical member I5 constantly urged outwardly by the expansible member I6, herein disclosed as also being a coil spring, interposed between the ball or spherical member I5 and the base of the socket I4. The outer extremity of the wall of the socket I4 is also defined by an inwardly disposed lip II to limit the outward movement of the ball or member I5.

As is clearly illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing, the balls or members 5 and I5 are normally in contact one with the other with the adjacent ends of the members or bars 2 and I2 spaced apart a distance suicient to readily permit the passage therethrough of the buckle I 8 of a belt B or kindred loop-like structure.

Upon endwise adjustment of the bar or member I0 the inwardly disposed Ibar or member I2 thereof may be properly adjusted with respect to the bar or member 2 and such adjustment maintained by the shank I9 threading from above through the associated post 9 and having binding contact upon the bar or member IB.

In the present embodiment of my invention the shank I9 is provided with a flattened head 20 of desired configuration and dimensions and which head, as illustrated in Figure 3', is adapted to have suitable matter produced thereon, as for example the sizes of the belts or other articles upon the associated element D together with the price of such article. I do not, however, wish to be understood as limiting myself in this respect.

In View of the foregoing it is believed to be apparent that the buckles I8 or the like may be readily slid along the aligned or coplanar bars or members 2 and I2 from one end to the other and across the space or gap between the opposed ends of said bars or members so that the desired belt B or other article can be 'brought into proper position to be readily withdrawn between the balls or members 5 and I5. With equal facility a belt B or other article may be placed upon an element D.

It is to be stated that while I have hereinbefore particularly referred to belts B for use in connection with my device it is to be understood that my device can be employed with equal facility in connection with the display of suspenders, with hats, or kindred articles of haberdashery by applying to such articles a suitable loop-like clip for proper coaction with the display elements D.

It is also believed to be apparent that by having the table I rotatably mounted the efficiency of the device as a whole is materially increased as the salesman can readily rotate the table I to permit himself or the customer to inspect the various articles suspended from all of the elements D.

From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a display device constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with Which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modication Without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement andformation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.

I claim:

1. A display rack comprising a table, bars carried by the table and extending outwardly and substantially radially therefrom and spaced circumferentially around the table, upstanding posts carried by the table `adjacent to the inner end of each of the bars, a second elongated bar freely insertible through a hole in each of the posts, said second vbar being of a length to extend beyond the outer end of an adjacent iirst bar, the outer end of the second bar being continued by a depending bar and a returned bar in longitudinal alignment with the adjacent rst bar Iand terminating closely adjacent thereto.

2. A display rack comprising a table, bars carried by the table and extending outwardly and substantially radially therefrom and spaced circumferentially around the table, upstanding posts carried by the table adjacent to the inner end of each of the bars, a second elongated bar freely insertible through a hole in each of the posts, said second bar being of a length to extend beyond the outer end of an adjacent first bar, the outer end of the second .bar being continued by a depending bar and a returned bar in longitudinal alignment with the adjacent rst bar and terminating closely adjacent thereto, and means for holding each of the elongated second bars against movement With respect to its post.
