Be it known that I, HENRY IV. FEss-ER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sacramento, in the, county of Sacramento and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Card Holders, of which the following is aspecification.

This invention relates to a card holder, and particularly pertains to means for supporting show cards and the like.

It is a principal object of the present in-- vention to provide a support for show cards which will be sightly in its appearance; and is further formed to adjustably support a card and to permit the card to be readily disposed in a supported position thereon.

The present invention contemplates. the use of a pedestal adjustably supporting a stem at the upper end of which a yieldable fastening for a card is provided, means also being supplied for holding the card in an aligned position.

The invention is illustrated by way of I example in the accompanying drawings, in

which Fig. 1 is a view in elevation showing the complete device, with parts broken away, and'indicating a card by dotted lines.

Fig. 2 is a view'in elevation howing the stem to which the card is attached.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, 10 indicates a base member, here shown as being circular in formation and as carrying a vertically disposed tube 11. This tube is fitted at its upper end with a collar 12, having a laterally extending threaded open-I ing therethrough. A set screw 13 passes through this opening and may be forced against a stem 14. The stem 14 telescopes within the tube 11, and thus may be adjustably held relative thereto by the set screw. Mounted upon the upper end of the stem is a fastener 15. Thi element consists of a helical coil of spring wire, threaded through an eye 16 in the stem and being arranged upon opposite sides thereof. It is convenient to dispose two or more convolutions of the coil on each side of the stem, thus providing clamping jaws between whicha card 17 may be yieldably held. Fixed to the top of the stem is a horizontally extending plate 18 which is held by a screw 19. The top of a card is adapted to reverse with the under face of this plate and thus be held in an aligned position.

to the base structure, after which the setscrew 13 is tightened. A display card 17 may then be mounted upon the device by springing adjacent convolutions of the support 15, in order to insert the upper edge of the card therebetween, after which the card will be firmly held thereby. If it is desired to display more than one card, a second'card '17 may beinserted between'the convolutions of the helical spring, as shown in thedrawings.- This card will extend upwardly and in no way interfere with the card disposed I below it. 7

It will thus'be seen that the device here disclosed, while simple in its construction, provides effective means for supporting a card and permitting .it to be .readily interchanged. y J
