Description

April 7, 1931; J. H. LMRIE v DISPLAY BRACKET Filed Dec. 14, 1928 Patented Apr. 7, 1931 UNITED STATES JOHN H. IMRIE, 0F PLYMOUTH, PENNSYLVANIA DISPLAY BRACKET Application led December 14, 1928. Serial No. 326,069.
The invention relates to a bracket, or holder, for securing a divider, or partition, to a counter top, or analogous support, for the display of goods requiredto be kept separated.
The bracket, or fixture, consists of a metal strap, of determinate length, width and thickness, folded upon itself, and having the end portions bent in the same` direction j in the minor details ofconstruction may be" resorted to within the scope ofthe invention, without departing from the spirit thereof.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, reference is to be had to the following description and the drawing hereto attached, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the application of an embodiment of the invention.
.Figure 2 is an enlarged detail sectional v1ew.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 of a modification, the divider being omitted.
Figure 4 is a detail sectional view of the modified form of bracket on the line 4 4 of Figure 3.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and desig* nated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.
The numeral l designates a counter top or analogous part generally employed for `the display of goods and 2 indicates a divider, or partition, mounted thereon for separating the goods to keep them apart.
The present invention, as stated, consists of a bracket or fixture adapted to be secured to the part 1 and receive the divider 2 and retain it in place. This bracket, or fixture,
consists of a metal strap of a length, width and thickness depending upon the particular use for which the device is intended. The metal strap is folded upon itself midway of its ends, as indicated at 3, and the end portions are bent in the same direction to form jaws 4 which are spaced apart to receive the divider 2 between them. The folded portion 3 constitutes a shank when the parts are in contact and receive the fastening means which secure the bracket to the part 1. As indicated in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing, the shank `3 is apertured to receive screws 5 or analogous fastening means.
In the modification shown in Figure 3, spurs 6 are partly cut from the bottom ele- `mentof the shank 3 and are bent outwardly and are` adapted to be driven into the part 1. The openings formed in the bottom element of the shank by bending portions thereof outwardly to provide the spurs 6 are covered by the top element, as indicated most clearly in Figures 3 and 4. It is preferred to construct the bracket of spring metal, since the jaws 4 are resilient and readily accommodate themselves to varying thicknesses of dividers, so that the same are firmly gripped and positively held in place. j
As previously stated, the strap from which the bracket, or holder, is formed, may
be of any `length and cross sectional outline and is folded upon itself and again bent to provide the shank and jaws which may be of any determinate length and relative angle. The divider may be of glass, wood, metal or other material and when in osition. may be perpendicular or incline depending upon the desired application. The
bracket or holder may be attached to a support or base of any kind for exhibiting and displaying goods.
Having thus described the invention, I claim j A display bracket consisting of a strap of resilient material folded upon itself to provide a shank, and having end `portions bent in the same direction from the shank to provide spring jaws, the bottom element of o the shank having portions partly out there- Y :from and bent outwardly to form attaJohing spurs, the top element of the shank covering the openings formed in the bottom spurs.
