Description

Aug. 10, 1937. Q F, THALAU 2,089,772
REMINDER BOARD Filed June 26, 1936 www mf @f ff Patented ug. 10, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application June 26,
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to an indicator board or panel to be used in the kitchen as a reminder of various articles which are needed from time to time to maintain the necessary supplies.
It is the purpose of the present invention to provide a device of this character which can be produced economically and which may be used by simply hanging it upon a wall to keep records of the supplies needed.
I will describe the preferred form of the invention by reference to the accompanying drawing wherein- Fig. 1 is a front View of an indicator panel r embodying the invention; and
Fig. 2 is a sectional View on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Referring now in detail to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates a panel member which may be of sheet metal or other suitable material and which may be provided with one or more openings such as 6 and 'I whereby the panel may be mounted upon a wall or suspended in any suitable fashion. The panel, as shown most clearly f by Fig. 2, has a raised central portion 8 which is spaced somewhat from a wall 9 against which the device is placed when the rim I0 of the panel rests against the wall. The raised portion 8 of the panel is provided with a pair of slots II and I2 arranged along the opposite side edges thereof.
The slot Il has a horizontal portion I3 near the bottom of the panel 8, and the slot I2 has a horizontal portion I4 near the bottom of the panel 8. The horizontal portions I3 and I4 run toward each other. The top of the slot I I is enlarged to provide an opening I5, and the top of the slot I2 is also enlarged to provide an opening I6. Between the openings I5 and IB and the horizontal portions I3 and I4, the slots II and l2 are provided with a multiplicity of curved branches Il and I8 which extend upwardly and toward the vertical center line of the panel in a smooth curve and which terminate in slightly downturned end portions such as indicated at I9.
The branches I1 and IB meet the main slots Il and I2 in such a fashion that, if a double 1936, Serial N0. 87,460
headed button member 20 is moved upward in one of the slots, it is an easy matter to guide the button member into one of the branches I1 or I8. The button member 20, as illustrated best in Fig. 2, has a head 2l at one end, a head 22 at the other end, and a reduced shank portion 23 which will fit in the slots II and I2 and their branches Il and I8.
The head 22 of the button 20 is sufficiently small that it may be passed through the openings I5 and I6 so that a plurality of the buttons may be threaded into the slots II and I2 and kept in the horizontal portions I3 and I4 thereof. Now, when a housewife finds that a supply of any certain material is needed, she merely places one of the buttons 20 in the branch Il or I8 corresponding to the article needed, and, when making purchases, she can readily determine just what items need to be purchased. If desired, the panel may carry a note book 245 and a thermometer 25, as shown in Fig. 1.
From the above description, it is believed that the construction and use of this device will be readily apparent.
Having thus described one specific form of the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
An indicating device comprising a panel having a flat rim portion adapted to rest against a wall and having a raised central portion spaced from the wall, the raised central portion being provided with a pair of oppositely disposed vertical slots, at the sides thereof, each slot having a horizontal portion at one end thereof and an enlargement at the other end thereof, each of said slots having a plurality of curved branches extending toward the vertical center line of said panel and terminating at their free ends in slightly downturned portions capable of holding an indicator button therein, and indicator buttons mounted in said slots, said indicator buttons each having two enlarged heads connected by a shank portion which is slidable in said slots, at least one of said heads being movable through the enlarged opening in the slot.
