TICKET HOLDER.
Application filed September 10, 1923. Serial No. 661,973.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALrHoNsE Roannen, a citizen of the United States, residing at Somersworth, in the county of Stralford and State of New Hampshire,
certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in ticket holders, and has particular reference to a clip adapted to be engaged with the edge of a shelf or the like, and provided with means for removably supporting price tickets adjacent articles arranged upon the shelf.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a device of the above kind which embraces the desired qualities of simplicity, durability, and efliciency in operation.
Another object of the invention is to provide a ticket holder which may be readily applied to a shelf, one which will not be readily accidentally displaced from the shelf, and one into which the tickets may be placed or from which said tickets may be removed from time to time as found necessary.
Other objects will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, and the same consists in the novel form, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and claimed.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a shelf, showing a ticket holder constructed in accordance with the present invention applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view, through the ticket holder, and
Figure 3 is a plan view of the sheet metal blank, from which the device is formed.
Referring more in detail to the drawings, the present device is formed from a relatively elongated blank of springy sheet metal, the blank being divided into an upper member 5, a front intermediate member 6, a lower member 7, and an end 8 by imaginary fold lines 9, 10 and 11 respectively. The front intermediate section 6 is provided at its end with narrow wings 12 connected with the member 6 along the fold lines 13, and tongues 14 of relatively small size are have invented 7 provided along the-lower ends of the wings 12. The blank is transversely slitted frominwardly as at 15for a distance substantially equal to the width of the tongues 14 along the fold line 10, and a fold line is provided as at 16 between each of the wings 12 and the tongues 14 carried its side edges thereby.
In constructing the ticket holder, the upper and lower members 5 and 7 are provided by mountingthe same in the same direction at right angles or substantially so with respect to the front intermediate members 6 along the fold lines 9 and 10. The tongues 14 are then bent upwardly at'right angles to the wings are other so as to front surface wings 12, after which said folded forwardly and toward each lie in spaced relation to the of the member 6 with the tongues 14 extending through the slit 15.
The wings 12 are thus brought in spaced relation to the member 6 at the ends of the latter so as to form slideways into which the price ticket 17 may be removably slid, the
downw'ard movement of the'ticket into the slides being limited at the proper position by means of the tongues 14, altho ready removal of the ticket upwardly is allowed.
In the preferred construction, the lower member is preferably rearwardly and upwardly inclined as shown in Figure 1, with the member 6 of slightly greater height or width than that of the shelf 18 to which the device is applied, under ordinary conditions, whereby, may be applied to shelves of ness.
From the ab should it be desired, the clip greater thickove description, it may be seen that the device constitutes a substantially U-shaped sheet metal clip embodying upper and lower jaws adapted toengage respectively the upper and lower faces of the shelf and connected by an intermediate front member adapted to edge of the shelf ticket slide f snugly engage the front and provided with side ormmg wings'by means of which the ticket may be supported. The end I portion 8 is downturned simply to facilitate the placement It will thus a very simple of the device upon the shelf. be seen that I have provided form of ticket holder which may be conveniently placed upon shelves adjacent the articles disposed upon the latter, so as to in consumer.
di'cate the price thereof to the Minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. i
What I claim as new is:
A price ticket holder for shelves comprising a resilient sheet metal clasp embodying upper and lower jaws connected by V a front member, said front member being adapted to engage the front edge of the shelf with the jaws engaging opposite faces of the latter and having end. wings extend ing toward each other in front of said intermediate front menri'ber of the clasp to In testimony whereof'l afli'x my si nature. 25
