In order to accomplish this object we construct a sla-t, C, inthe. ordinary form, to run longitudinally, with reference to the side rails, B, ofthe bedstead. To this slat We a-ttachthe truss D, made fast' and turnedoverv the'ends of theslat, in such a, manner as to form a. loop, I, thtcnglrwhich is prnssed'the loop of the double coilspring`E,`whi'ch spring encloss the rod or round bar B, and is attached to'the heed 'and foot-miL'A, of tlie bedstead by meansof a proper loop in the centre of the4 doubleooil-springnnd the hook-J.A To the upper side of the truss 'we attach coil or' other springs, `3, as mamy-as we deem best, which support and prevent too' much d'eliecticn ofthe slet. v
