PATENT OFFICE.
EDMUND C. TOOKER, OF LARCHMONT, AND VINCENT PRICE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNORS TO CHRISTINA J. HIGLEY, NEW YORK, N. Y.
HOSE-SUPPORTEFL SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 775,587, dated N VembGr 22, 1904.
Application filed June 10, 1904:. Serial No. 211,979. (No model.)
will be eflicient and comfortablefor the wearer,
and in which the parts may be so secured together as to prevent accidentaldisplacement, but permit the removal of the parts. or replacement when desired.
The invention consists in improvements the principles of which are illustrated in the accompanying sheet of drawings.
Figure 1 is a view of a hose-supporter embodying the improvements of our invention.
These supporters are usually provided in pairs. Fig. 2 is a side elevation, on an enlarged scale, of the details which more particularly involve our invention. Fig. 3 is a rear view of an attaching-clasp. Fig. 4 is a iletailed perspective view of the fastener mem- 1 indicates the main strap of the supporter, which in the form herein shown is adapted to be secured to the lower front edge of a corset.
2 2 are tapes which are secured to the main strap by a suitable buckle 3.
4 is the body orframe of a clasp which is attached to the tape 2.
5 is a clamping member pivoted to the frame 4.
6 is a web or tape to which the parts of the fastener are secured. This web is secured to the clasp and guided by the lugs 41 4:1.
7 is a loop of suitable construction, which is secured to one end of the web, preferably by sewing.
8 is a button carried by the opposite end of the web and adapted to cooperate with the loop 7 9 is a frame constituting a suitable means for attaching the button 8 to the web.
The edge of the garment which is to be supported is placed over the button 8 and then held in place by means of the loop 7. The loop 7 being carried by one end of the web 6 may be conveniently lifted or swung upward, as shown in Fig. 2, for the purpose of attachment. The loop is not rigid, but is flexible with relation to the clasp. Since the web 6 passes through the clasp-frame 4i and around the back thereof, it affords aprotection to prevent injury to the-wearer. The end of the tape 2 and the web 6 are securely fastened in the clasp by the hinged clamp member 5. The construction is such, however, that the clasp may be readily released from the tape 2, if forvany reason this may be desired. The method of securing the web 6 also provides a means for adjusting the distance between the lower edge of the button 8 and the lower edge of the opening in the loop 7, so that the fastener may be conveniently employed for supporting garments of different thicknesses.

2. In a hose-supporter, the combination of a tape, a manually-operable clasp, a web, a button carried by one end of said web, aloop carried by the other end of said web adapted to coact with said button said web passing adjustably through said clasp and covering the back thereof and said clasp being removably secured to said tape.
3. In a hose-supporter, the combination of a tape, a clasp having a movable clamping member and adapted to be removably secured to said tape, a-fastener carried by said clasp and comprising a flexible web, a button carprisinga web, a button carried by one end of ried by the lower end of said web and a loop said web and a loop carried by theother end carried by the upper end of said web and movof said web and adapted to coact with said able relatively to said clasp, substantially as button.
